Fans of Andrew Murray have suffered a real turnaround in fortunes this last fortnight, after the Brit crashed out early of both the Toronto and Cincinnati Masters to leave his preparations for the US Open in tatters.

Murray flew to North America buoyed by Olympic Games success, in which he defied the Tennis Odds to beat rival Roger Federer 6-2 6-1 6-4 on Wimbledon’s Centre Court, yet the strains of that victory immediately took their toll.

World number two, Novak Djokovic, admitted that he was relieved to get back to winning ways in Canada after suffering emotional defeats at the Olympics.

Andy Murray feels he can build on Olympic glory and secure his first Grand Slam title at the upcoming US Open.

The British number one seems to be getting closer and closer to winning his first ever Slam, reaching three finals in the last three years.

Having been to the Wimbledon showpiece for the first time this summer but losing, Murray gained quick revenge on his SW19 conqueror.

There is a sizeable amount of opposition to tennis as an Olympic sport. Some of the participants at London2012 might return home wishing their sport was not on the Olympic programme, whilst others can reflect that the event was a massive fillip for their career.

It was certainly hit with the punters though, with Betfair Tennis Betting markets attracting plenty of interest throughout the tournament.

Rafael Nadal has revealed that he is not yet fit enough to return to action due to his current knee injury.

The Spaniard was forced to withdraw from the Olympic Games, where he was due to carry his country's flag, and he is continuing his recuperation.
