From 1984:

pg. 35: "Who controls the past, controls the future; who controls the present controls the past." The official party slogan, as interpreted by Winston, the main character.

To a great extent, the above quote is ringing true in our world. We can revise history to suit our own needs and agendas. With a single thought and the stroke of a pen, we can erase an entire people off the face of this planet. Powerful, huh?

From To Kill A Mockingbird, a classic novel by Harper Lee:

pg. 103: Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."

Miss Maudie clarified a statement that Atticus had uttered to Scout earlier. The "mockingbirds" that Miss Maudie was referring to were the people who did...

Does anyone else out there ever think about getting old and dying? It freaks me out like nothing else in the world.

Perhaps this is because I'm young. Relatively. Still in my own way, I am getting old. But I mean getting really old like a senior citizen and knowing that I'm going to die. That just boggles my mind. The years keep flying by faster and faster and this is NOT OKAY with me

I don't want to wake up tomorrow with white hair and wonder where my life...
