Newly crowned Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic will certainly head to Flushing Meadows later this summer, as the man to beat. The Serb added the Wimbledon title to the Australian Open trophy he won at the start of the year, and will be hoping to now finish the year with success at the upcoming US Open and the ATP Tour World Finals.
The 24-year-old claimed the world number one spot as he stormed his way to the title at the All-England Club, replacing the man he beat in the final, Rafa Nadal. Now there can be no doubt as to who is the best player in the world at the moment. While Nadal may still be thought of as the world's best, at this current time there is nobody capable of matching Djokovic and the US Open specials
Nadal has now lost four finals in a row against his new main rival, with the Spaniard admitting the run has now become an issue. If Djokovic can maintain his stunning form then he could well become the new main dominant force in the sport. Roger Federer seems less and less likely to recapture his previous form while the Serb has clearly gained the upper hand over Nadal. The US Open tips
indicate he could dominate.
Now the two-time beaten finalist will head back to Flushing Meadows, looking to finally claim one of the two grand slam titles that have so far eluded him. Not many will be able to mount a strong case as to why Djokovic can now add a fourth grand slam title to his collection.
