Reader's Quote Part 11
From my all-time favorite The Color Purple by Alice Walker:
pg. 192: Until you do right by me, everything you touch will crumble.
At this point in the story, Celie had grown tired of being disrespected and ignored by her husband, Mr. She had gathered enough inner strength to resist the injustices she suffered under him. As a result, she left him and "entered into creation."
As she was leaving, Mr. reminded her that she was what we would call a loser, with no skills or talents to support herself, but she responded by telling him that if he does not correct his behavior and actions toward her, everything that he does from that point on will be a failure.
