On Monday 11/12 in Ghent at the Vooruit:
Support act 1: The New 1920
They were okay. They had started already when we arrived, we had no idea that there would be two support acts!
Support act 2: The Blackout
I almost had a heart attack when I saw the singer, because we expected Lostprophets next (but obviously they weren't). The singer had horrible bleeched hair with a pink bit in it and to be honest, I didn't like his screaming very much lol. But the other singer had a nice voice and the music was okay. I was glad it was over though :-#
They were great, as expected. I had already seen them at Lowlands, so I had an idea of what to expect. There was a bit of a sound problem in the beginning, because you could hardly hear Ian sing above the guitars, but that was solved after a while.
Ian was great, he always has such contact with the fans and always talks to the audience. He responded to the screaming of a few girls with "I love you too". lol. At one point - she had asked me what his name was - my friend screamed his name when it was really silent. And he was like, "WHAT?" hahaha everybody was looking at us. It was pretty funny.
They all did solos at some point, first the drummer, then the pianist, then Ian, then the guitar player, and then everyone asked the bass player to do something, but he wouldn't
The crowd was pretty rough at the front; people were crowdsurfing, a few jumped on the stage and at some point the security had to take care of a few overenthusiastic fans lol.
These are the songs they played (I think I missed some but that's about it): Everyday Combat, A town called Hypocrisy, The new Transmission, Rooftops, Can't catch tomorrow, Broken Hearts, Torn Up Letters And The Story Of A Lonely Girl, 4 AM Forever, Last Summer, Last Train Home, and Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja.
So afterwards my friends wanted to wait for the band to come out. One guitar player was there already and he gave autographs and posed for pictures, while the instruments and lights and stuff were brought to the truck (that was a lot lol. It took them about two hours to put everything away). They all were really nice to the fans, but of course everybody was waiting for Ian. In the meantime I had my picture taken with two guys from the Blackout (yes because the one on the right is a hottie
Ian kept us waiting for about two hours lol. But it was worth it, he was so nice and calm to the fans that were out there. He talked to us and signed and posed. He was wearing an ugly hat, so I asked him, "won't you take off that hat for me?" and he was like, "absolutely not". I started laughing, and the pic was taken right then lol. Needless to say that I look a bit bad lol.
But they were all so nice, and it was a great evening, so I hope they'll be back next year as Ian promised.
