WHY are they making all three Davis Cup guys play on Tuesday when they just got there and waiting til Wed. for some of the other matches?!?

I can't have much sympathy for the DC guys when they only played a couple of matches over 3 days. Alex has played every single day since last Saturday. He played 8 singles matches, 2 doubles plus an exhibition match the night before his QF last week. I know that I'm sounding like a broken record but Alex went through a lot more than any of the DC players (anywhere) last week. Today was his first day off and it doesn't sound like he probably got much practice if the weather was that bad.

Alex BOGOMOLOV JR. (USA) vs Mardy FISH (USA)

Smart of them to give Alex the night match :)

Then that was even more reason to push Mardy/Alex to Wednesday... they all should've complained.

I mean they could've put Robby/Tommy on Tuesday, they were both in Houston for a while I think...And there are other 1st round matches they could've put out on Tuesday also. it just doesn't totally seem fair to the people that were coming in off other surfaces who didn't arrive til Sunday night to play on Tuesday. Actually, even the Houston Chronicle said that Andy, Mardy, and Thomas would all play on Wednesday. it just seems weird. So if that situation includes Alex, then I'll extend my statement to include him too but since he is playing Mardy it doesn't change it anyway lol

LOL...Thank you for including him though ;) . You're so lucky for tomorrow night!! I'm sure their will be other good matches but my respect for Alex only grew last week so until he wins ( ;) ) tomorrow I don't care about much else.

I'm quite psyched.... don't know how many chances I'll get to see my current top two faves play right after the other :) Hopefully both Alex and Mardy play well.

Tommy Haas was also on Davis Cup action last weekend in Germany, and he had a long trip to Houston... no way he should play on Tuesday!!

Deboogle!.
04-13-2004, 03:00 PM
oh yea...I forgot about that.... but anyway he's not playing! I don't think any of the people who didn't get in til sunday night should have to play Tuesday. that's all I'm saying

Plus with the rain yesterday, the players who didn't get in til Sunday apparently only got about an hour to practice!!

I'm not interested in many matches there... the more important tournaments and the focus is in Europe when it comes to claycourt tournaments... but Haas is playing there, Todd Martin, Roddick also... some matches are interesting for me... but nevertheless, even if the majority of the matches are not priority to me, it sucks when you're in such a situation like now... but it won't be the only tournament without live scores, lots of others will follow :banghead: :banghead: so prepare yourself :banghead:

Impressive that Dmitry kept his concentration for that long. At least Ivo didn't go down easy or I would've been mad considering he's two days removed from a title.

Now, it's Alex's turn :D . But his match is still hours away

Tennis724, you probably know the answer about this if anyone does. Do Alex and Cargill have any plans for a wedding anytime soon, or is this going to be one of those looooooong engagements?

It's actually Ashley Harkleroad that he's engaged to not Ansley Cargill :) . But, I don't really know.

I have a question for you, Star. They're not giving out results when you call?? How the hell do I get through the next couple of hours not know how he's doing?!?!

I know that most of you already knew that but I just called and experienced it for myself. "I can tell you who wins but I can't tell you the score." was response. So not only is the website nonexistent but the staff is apparently idiots!! I'm so pissed.

I admit that if this wasn't Alex I wouldn't be so mad but I thought the coverage sucked before. I thought Scottsdale was bad! Could it really be any worse than Houston???????

Mardy sucked monkey balls. I'm sure his first serve % was well under 50% if not even worse. He had way too many double faults and a lot of them were on break points or other really crucial points. Credit to Alex for hanging around and playing his game and going for his shots, but Mardy gave most of it away. I actually thought he moved pretty well on the clay, just too many errors. His coach was not happy, nor was his dubs partner Blake who was watching in the stands.

Deboogle!.
04-14-2004, 04:58 AM
Tompa played really badly (in the first set at least). too low serve %, too many errors!!!

the 7-5 score in the second set of Andy's match looks tight.... but it wasn't. Andy was deep into almost every one of Carlsen's service games and Carlsen never had better than 40-30 on Andy's serve games. Never once got to deuce even.
