It probably was.
I hate when they make the qualifiers play on the first day. Doesn't seem fair.
As soon as I saw that he had to go to a third set, I had a feeling that he'd be too tired to win the match. Especially after Saturday where there were so many rain delays and they didn't finish until really late.
They should automatically give the qualifiers in masters series events Monday off...

I saw his match against Grosjean on Sunday and he was great (the first set was terrible, but the rest made up for it). I'll follow his results more closely in the future, I liked what I saw.
When he missed a BH, he missed it really badly, the ball was always landing in the bottom on the net, that was a bit shocking, lol. But this "little" problem with the BH aside ^^, he showed a good variety in his game, wasn't afraid to finish the points at the net and I was nicely surprised by his mental strength. Grosjean seemed totally in control of the match and when he broke at the beginning of the 3rd set, I asked my friend if he wanted to leave because it looked like an easy win from then on. I'm glad we stayed, the 3rd set was just great. Nice shots from both and except one poor game from Grosjean when Simone broke back, they both were playing very enjoyable tennis and put up a real fight. The most exciting match of the week-end, there was a great atmosphere, the crowd was totally into it - they got a little ovation at the end.
I'm not surprised he lost on Monday, he didn't look tired at all on Sunday, but it certainly was mentally very demanding.

05-15-2007, 10:03 AM
And since he lost to Serra: I know Serra doesn't look very impressive ^^, but I also saw Serra-Horna on Sunday and Serra was really playing well. He drove Horna completely nuts (although Horna was looking great on Saturday), so you never know with Serra, he might have played a great match yesterday too, he's totally unpredictable. The loss to Serra isn't necessarily as bad as it sounds.
Champion number 1
05-15-2007, 10:57 AM
Yes I think Serra is in a little bit of form and Bolelli was surely tired from the Seba match. All of this meant he lost yesterday. Simo will have better days and he did well just to qualify.

Looks like Simone played really well yesterday, I´ve noticed a lot of improvement in his game this year in every match I´ve seen him in action after the couple of matches I saw from him in 2006 and he has an excellent potential to become a very good player. If he plays like he knows, he will make life hard for Hewitt. Vai Simone

Simone lost to Hewitt quite easily, but I noticed that he has made some improvements. He wasn't constructing points or playing with conviction, but his strokes actually looked good, he just needs to use his brain more.

Chardy have played very good ( don't forget he won WIMBLEDON junior on 2004 )like Simone said in an interview, he didnt expect that.
Bolelli have played very badly on service returns, like happens very often. If he lost the game, he lost the match! And now...Marseille!Anyway......GO SUPERBOL! WE CAN BELIEVE IN!

I agree with you...
It has happened again...when he is breaked he lost the set!
he must work better on service returns!

He should do some footwork drills and work on anticipating serves. Missing so many against Richie is unacceptable, it's not like he's the biggest server out there.
He lost to Ferrer. No shame in this and at least he fought. 64 75.

He definitely played very well! I really enjoyed the match (except for the result). During the days I visited the tourny I took quite some pics of Simone, will post them another time. (prolly in the weekend)
Thanks Chiudi-fan! Great photos take on the backhand!
It has just began Bolelli-Schuettler in Zagreb, is it possible to see on streaming?

In my opinion, simone can win this match, he have to believe in himself!
In the past matches vs. Cilic, he had always fought with him.
2007 Moscow r32 36 46
2007 Casablanca final 64 36 46
i would be optimist!

good prediction :yeah:
Bolelli def Cilic 6-4 6-3
only 1 BP faced in the whole match in the beginning of the first set
86% of the points won on first serve and 58% on the 2nd, great stats
and very winnable QF against Rochus who doesnt have a great serve to put Bolelli's weak return in difficulty
it's his first QF in ATP level, is that right?
bolelli74
02-27-2008, 10:15 PM
Oh yes, it's the first time he reachs 1/4 final ATP level!
He has played a great match and now he can't stop vs. Rochus!
Go SuperBol, it's time to fly!
VolandriFan

I can't believe how easy that was. Maybe now he'll finally play up to his best?
Rochus is probably the easiest quarterfinal drawcard possible. He's only just starting to find his form now, so Simone has a great chance.
When did Simone train with Roger by the way?
bolelli74
02-28-2008, 08:06 AM
It happened at Flushing Meadows 2007, but it wasn't the first time.
They trained also at Roland Garros 2006.
Roger has always spoken very well about Simone.

I've seen the match, he has played very well, he has never lost concentration in the critical moments.
Great service and great forehand ( a lot of winners ).
