vv--Here, a video from 1977--vv

Bjorn "Teen Assassin" Borg vs. Rod "Rocket" Laver...in an apparent rain delay or coverage delay at the French Open, sometime in the 90's?...or later...if I judge by the names at the bottom of the screen. Commentator, great player--Ricardo Alonso "Pancho" Gonzales.

I found another copy of it, on youtube. The other copy says:1977 SF action between Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver at the WITC championships at Hilton Head (4-man invitational). Borg would go on to defeat Laver to move on to the final where he disposed of Arthur Ashe....and the poster is "chapaev36".

Yet it (the WITC/Hilton Head matchup) doesn't show on their ATP head-to-head. (Which Mr. Borg leads, 5-2).

I love that drop shot going across his body by Rod. It is kind of funny how the commentator, Pancho Gonzales seemed in admiration for Rod's play. Both were sworn enemies.

Pancho sued him once. Rod mentioned in his 1971 book about Pancho's hypocrisy towards sportsmanship (Pancho accused him of bad sportsmanship) with the comparison of the Arab and the Israeli's conflict.

Rod moved like a running back like Tony Dorsett. Moved very quickly but with small precision steps and could make that small delay to get the opponent to move in a opposite directions. Yet, can make the tough basline returns like Dorsett in those 3rd short yard gains.

Its very weird to see Laver holding the racquet with one hand during the rallies.

(Something not reflected in their open-era, ATP head-to-head page...):
