Séb is forfaited for davis cup, he's sick...
Well, no comment... :fiery: :banghead:

On verra bien.

Grosjean withdraws from French Davis Cup team

April 6, 2004

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) -- French No. 1 Sebastien Grosjean won't play in
this weekend's Davis Cup quarterfinal against Switzerland.

Grosjean has a virus and must take a 10-day break, Swiss Davis Cup spokesman
Marcel Hauck said Tuesday. The French Tennis Federation confirmed the
information.

The withdrawal of Grosjean means the singles matches most likely will fall
to Arnaud Clement and Nicolas Escude. The squad also includes doubles
specialist Michael Llodra and Julien Benneteau.

Playing without Grosjean will make things more difficult for France, which
faces world No. 1 Roger Federer. Grosjean, who led France to the final in
2002, has a 2-1 record against Federer.

Sebastien, you at in Switzerland at the moment preparing for the second round of DC. How's preparation going?
(laughs- he was actually LAUGHING!) Well actually, there really isn't any preparation going at all. I had to forfeit because i'm suffering from a viral infection since i left Key Biscayne. I have 10 days before i'll go get some tests done to know how i'm going. But yeah I won't be able to play Davis Cup, i'll be on the sidelines as a supporter.

What is it that you are suffering from, exactly?
I got a viral infection from Key Biscayne. I felt really tired, i just ran out of energy over there. When i arrived in Paris on saturday, i still wasnt feeling too good. But i didn't know exactly what i had, i didnt really understand why i was feeling so blocked up. Like before any DC tie, i had a check up when i arrived. It was then when the doctor told me i should take 10 days off for rest because i'm sick. I have to recover before starting up training again.

It's a huge blow for the French team...
It's hard for the team but it's also hard for myself too. I can't take my revenge on the Swiss team now, after what happened last year. It's really disapointing but the dr said i have to rest. I would have been able to play but i would have had to take 3 weeks off straight after. If i play, i know that there's too big a risk. It's not good for me, and above all not good for the team.

Your year started with a quarter final appearance at the Aus Open but since then, you have been plagued by injury!
It's really a shame, i haven't had much luck. I really hope that the ten days of rest will do me some good and that i'll be able to return back to normal training to prepare for the clay court season.

Since you have withdrawn, will Nicolas take your spot in singles?
The logical answer would be yes. Nico should play singles with Arnaud Clément. We'll see who it'll be soon.

And for the doubles?
I have no idea. Since i just withdrew, we havent had much time to think about this yet. Theres MIka but for the second player, i dont know. One thing's for sure though, all the players will be considered as an option.

Do you think that the French can overcome the 'Swiss obstacle'?
We have a good chance. We arent favourites with the presence of Roger Federer but i know that we have the potential to beat the Swiss team, yes. We did it in 2001 so i think we can do it, no problems.

What do you think about your comeback to competition?
I'll have tests done next Thursday. If the 'doc' gives me the green light, then i'll be able to go back to training and hope i can play monte carlo. We'll see.

hehe. i dont have to try to translate. i would need ages. i mean i have to learn everything in french. words, to conjugate,to decline, to find a difference between verbs and nouns...and so on. everything *lol*

well , it's really another shock after his withdraw from auopen .but i do hope he can recover after a 10 day's rest so that he could get well prepared for the clay court season.
Fortunately, we've still got arnaud and nico.best wishes for them .
