How do you think, who have more chances to win in this match?

Also c'mon Gulbis, Juska and Pavlovs!

seljanin

Well, I have never seen any Bulgarian men's player, but despite their lower rankings, they are the seeded pair, and it's not for nothing.

Anyway, my prognosis almost a month beforehand is that we will win, I'm optimistic ;)

Let's also hope for a good crowd and atmosphere, like it was vs Greece on 2005! :wavey:

I was watching the two matches in the arena, so there's a little report from me! :)

Btw, these matches are not shown on LV TV.

Juska - Enev: Juska started off very sloppy, ton on unforced errors, but serving well and not giving Enev any chance to break. Enev had a breakpoint at 5:5 in 1st set, but that was saved with an ace :) The tiebreak was pretty close - it was 5:6 on Juska's serve and so far both players had a mini-break each. And the Juska made a DF on Enev's setpoint... 2nd and 3rd set were won by Juska pretty comfortably after breaking Enev in the beginning of these sets. 4th set was a close clash, both were holding the serve pretty comfortably and not trying very hard on their opponent's serve. A couple of minibreaks in the tiebreak, and the match was done :woohoo: Actually, the only thing Juska did well in the whole match was his serve, the timing on the shots was really off today, but that proved to be enough. Juska held all his service games in this match. Enev was playing a very defensive minded match, all the offensive moves were made by Juska, and then it was either a Juska's winner or Enev's unforced/forced error. To be honest I expected a bit more from the Bulgarian guy.

Gulbis - Traykov: very easy win for Gulbis. He was dominating this match from start to finish. Traykov was trying to play offensively behind his serve, coming to the net, but almost every time he got passed :D And there were a lot situations like this in the match. Gulbis won first 20(!!!) points in a row on his serve, it was amazing - 5 consecutive love games! The first 8 serves by Gulbis were 4 aces and 4, when Traykov only managed to get a racket in front, but his return didn't even reach the net. After winning first 20 points on his serve, Gulbis finally lost one... after double fault... then 8 more consecutive points on the serve :woohoo: Then it became interesting for me and I started to count: there were 60 service points by Gulbis in the match, he won 52 of them, 3 DF, 3 Traykov's winners and 2 unforced errors. Anyway, I believe this match was a very hard one for Traykov, because he was mostly a spectator here from the best seat in da house. Impressive :woohoo:

So, a great day overall, our guys didn't lose a game on their serve and established a nice 2:0. After today's display, I believe that Pavlovs and Emulins will both get their chances on Sunday :)
