Great job JC!!! If I'm correct, this is one of, if not his best performance at Indian Wells. So he's gonna pick up some points from here no matter what happens later. YAY!!!

Watch out Top 10, Juan Carlos Ferrero is coming to get you!!!

Whoa! How bad did Mayer play?

Or is it how well did Ferrero play? Why is Ferrero always looked down upon lately. I'm sick of it! It's not just coming from the haters, the 'fans' are doing it too. Nobody had faith in him to get past the 2nd round, and now look.

Most people thought he would win and you know it.

I suggest you go into the JC forum and have a look at what some people said. Nobody is optimistic about his chances anymore:(

ferreros best tennis now is his average tennis 4 years ago. He is not the same player as he was before, Mayer must have played a hell of a bad match.

The vast majority expected him to beat Mayer, what are you on about?

Before the draw came out, everybody was like 'he's not going to do well here, lucky if he makes it past the second round, he never does well here so why should this year be any different.'

Correct me if i'm wrong, but is this the attitude of 'fans?'

I think everyone is going to expect JC to beat Mayer, that wasn't what I was referring to. But it's seeming like whoever JC's playing nobody has any faith in him.

There is an easy explanation for this:

Buenos Aires - lost to Devilder
Australian Open - lost to Udomchoke
Bangkok - lost to Zverev
US Open - lost to Gicquel
Umag - lost to Portas

These losses have come within a period of around 6 months. Why should people put faith in Ferrero? He has had one good result in a tournament of note the past year, Cincinatti. There are a bunch of disappointing but less embarassing results to go with the ones I posted as well.

Mayer is the only player JC has actually owned, since his slump 3 years ago.

I did notice that Ferrero's forehand seems to be back to something like it was like 3 years ago. Thats not to say he's the same player, but I would say alot of his problems at the moment are mental. Go JC :)

It is back, but i don't think it is consistent yet.

Yeah but consistency can follow if he gets more confident. The fact that the forehand is working again is the best news I heard about him in a long time to be honest.

It may not be quite as consistent yet, but at least he has finally found the shot, if you know what I mean. I mean, most of us saw JC's matches in Cincy, but can any of you really say he was hitting and moving explosively like he used to. At most, he was 20% of his true level. Don't ask me how he got to the final. I don't know and I don't care. But I saw his level in Acapulco, and especially in the match with Gaudio, he was practically the young Juan Carlos again. The power from his forehand is definitely there now, just needs to add a tiny bit more consistency and he has good chances to rock the clay court season.
