Who have played the most tournaments in tennis history in singles (the Open Era)? I guess Fabrice Santoro
The Frenchman has played 387 tournaments so far (+ 61 Challengers)! Agassi who has been playing for 20 years is "lousy" in comparison with Santoro. Agassi played 321 tournaments (+ only 5 Challengers).

So does Santoro hold the record?

We need to compare Santoro's total matches to Agassi's total matches.

Santoro should overcome Connors this year :)

"Only" 269 :)

We need to compare Santoro's total matches to Agassi's total matches.

Andre Agassi, 1144 matches / 321 tournaments
Fabrice Santoro, 814 matches / 387 tournaments
:)

Interestingly, Agassi won more matches than Santoro has played--870 to 814. If you win a lot, you really can't play in a lot of tournaments during the year i.e. go tourny hopping trying to put together a few wins. There are freak exceptions like Lendl and Connors though. :)

No, he can't. He is 26 and hasn't played even 200 tournaments so far. I doubt he is able to play 30 tournaments each of the next 7 years...

Thanks for those stats. I just checked and apparently Connors played 1491 matches and Lendl played 1308. Considering the game became progressively more physically demanding, which of the three figures (Connors, Lendl, Agassi) is most impressive? I'd probably have to give it to Lendl....

Lendl, Connors and Agassi are all up there for being ironmen. The game has gotten more and more physically demanding so Agassi's 20 years against many different generations is quite the acheivement.

Jummy's play as an old man is really astonishing. Even after he was 40 years old at 42 or 43, he would put up a fight with top 40 players. His serve would get pounded, but few players even in his old age could hold easily against him.

If I count well "Le magicien" is playing 392nd ATP tourney in career, so probably since last week (s'Hertogenbosch) he is a new record holder in "the most tournaments played" :) Congrats Fab :wavey:

Incidently I think he should be clear record holder for first round losses also :bounce:

If Fab plays next USO and AO he will have played 62 Grand Slam. ()
The record is held by Agassi with 61.
