Just so you are aware, it doesn't really matter where you start a thread, if the thread is started just to link to your site, it is still against the rules ;)

Hello Deb!,

Thankyou for making me aware that I am not doing the right thing, I apologize in advance.

Firstly Shotgun in a MP 2 days ago, now you are informing me that I am breaking the rules. I have read over the rules several times and still can't understand in what way I am doing something forbidden.

Shotgun says that I am introducing "SPAM" to the MTF through my threads ??

You indicate that "if the thread is started just to link to your site, it is still against the rules" then already that is more clear to me, but I still fail to see where this is a problem. . . .

CoreTennis only provides free information concerning tennis results and rankings. The scoreboards which are so appreciated by many tennis lovers are not even "headed" with the CoreTennis logo and once the page has been opened (a new page, without leaving the MTF site) there is nowhere to go, by closing the page you are still on MTF. How can this be considered as SPAM or in any way a prejudice to MTF or their members. ?

I have shown here that I can offer a wide range of services, which I believe to be interesting for the MTF members, if you can inform me as to what I should do to make these threads acceptable to the MTF rules and policies, then I am more than happy to comply.

There is absolutely no motivation from my side to be a nuisance on this forum, I would just like to share my passion for tennis with everyone.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message, any constructive replies are more than welcome.

Most respectfully,
Wodonga.

I think the difference is context. If you actually post things to talk about and have discussions, then great I think this is a nice addition to the USA forum. if it's just repeated posts in your links, that's where there's a problem.
Basically, just read #3 under the "Posting" headline in this post http://www.menstennisforums.com/announcement.php?f=57 and that should explain the difference.

It's a fine line, we realize, but basically if you update this thread and actually discuss stuff and contribute to the board in some way besides just posting your links, it's fine :)

Hello Deb!,
Thanks so much for your reply, I am certain that I can make provide you with a few different threads that I will update and comment on, regularly.

Just to put the "dots" on the "i"s, here is the article in question :
quote :
#3 Spamming advertisements is not allowed whether by post or VIA PM.
If you have a tennis website you wish to divulge, put the link of it on your signature with small letters, but do not start threads or post insistently about it.
Spam also includes :
- a. Product or service offerings from a business or organization.
- b. Products or services using pyramid scheme.
unquote

Evidently I want to encourage your members to use links to CoreTennis.
I have a small coretennis (http://www.coretennis.net/) under my signature (it seems that this is acceptable) which goes to the CoreTennis "home page", or it could be used to go to the calendar (http://www.coretennis.net/majic/pageServer/0j01000008/en/Calendar.html) or to rankings (http://www.coretennis.net/majic/pageServer/0j01000038/en/ATP-Rankings.html) if appropriate in the message that I am posting, with either stories or comments in each post. If this is OK then I'm confident that this could also be a solution.

As for the "scoreboards" for example : > scoreboard (http://www.coretennis.net/majic/pageServer/0v0100000e/en/tid/704/index.html) I think that there are no problems here as they are "one shot connections" and in no way comparable to the other links to a web-site, so as long as they are included in a text, then thats more than reasonable and I will be delighted to comment on the relative events.

Lastly but not least, "stickies" : to avoid posting similar threads on subjects that are to be regularly updated, for example : "rankings - biggest progressions - biggest drops" and/or "weekly Calendar" and/of "where are the Americans playing this week" (or the Aussies, the Frenchies, the Mexicans, etc. in their appropriate national players pages, would it be possible to provide me with a "sticky" status on some selected threads, once in place I would update the infos each day or each week as soon as the infos are available.

Thanks again for taking my requests into consideration, please let me know your thoughts on the subject.

Later,

Keeping in touch with tennis,
Wodonga.

If you want to update rankings information in GM, you really should do that in Judio's thread. We don't really like repetition. there is a thread about weekly updated rankings already, so I think you should just put rankings information in that thread. As for this thread, if you update it regularly and actually talk and discuss and converse, you will be fine if your posts have a few links :)

How come you have all the Indian Wells entrants going straight into the round of 64? Apart from seeds (Roddick, Blake, Fish) the start is the round of 96 surely?

Damned good question . . . and it deserves a good answer, I'll do my best,

> When you have 128 players in the draw (Grand Slams, for example) the first round is the 1/64s (2 players per match x 64 = 128 players)

> When the draw is only 96, the "32 Top seeds" have a "bye" on the 1st round, so they enter the tournament in the 1/32s.

So when you see a list of players in the 1/64s they are all first round players, the fact that the top seeds will progress to the 1/32s without playing a match will not be indicated on the list until we have entered the results for the 1/64s.

Basically it doesn't change the situation, but I can see that it could lead to confusion. ;)

I will rectify the list this time, (a way to say that you are right, and to agree with your observations :) ) but I would be interested to know if you think that this important enough to make this rectification every time we have "byes" in the 1st round of a tournament, that could be quite a problem . . .

What ever happened to Jeff Morrison?

I can't give you more than a partial tournament history since a year or so, we only have regular stats since August last year. Here's what I have found :

Jeff played at least 2 major tourneys last year :
- US Open, lost in 1st round to Bjorn Phau 36 67 16
- Indian Wells, came through the qualies and lost in the 2nd round to Gael Monfils 36 60 36.

He also played in 6 Challengers since September, best result a QF in Tulsa, Oklahoma - Sept. 2006.
His last appearence was a 1st round loss to Frank Dancevic 61 16 36 in the Music City Challenger, Nashville, TN. last November.

No infos for this year . . .

I saw Jeff several times in Roland Garros and in Wimbledon quite some time ago, I must admit that he impressed me considerably, a really good player with a super tennis, I felt at the time that he had a very good potential, but it just didn't seem to work out for him.

He is currently ranked ATP #.254

Sorry, but that's all I have in hand?
