Davydenko, Safin, Haas and Gonzalez all in Murray's quarter, not good.

Poor Djokovic, he just can't avoid Federer's part of the draw these days it seems.

Deathless Mortal

Good and easy for Rafa , that Bald Clown is crap .

I was happy because he wasn't in Fed's side of draw ;) Nadal won't make it to SF anyway ;)

And Ljubo's got a nice draw. He can even make it to the Final

Ljubo's draw is tougher than it looks...

R2: Becker...not easy.
R3: Tojo / Almagro...not easy
R4: Fish :haha: / Nalbandian...not easy
QF: Roddick...would favour A-Rod
SF: Baggy / Youzhny / Nadal...not easy

Not an easy draw for Murray either, with Safin and Davydenko lurking before the QFs.

Good draw for A-Rod! No Fed, Murray or Haas in his half. And no worries about facing Baldy ... Andy will get Fish instead in quarters.

Also good for Querrey. Easy R1 v. C Rochus, then I like him against Davydenko.

Kendrick in the draw ... got that last WC.

MaryWalsh
03-06-2007, 11:54 PM
Well, it's interesting . . .

Here's my off-the-cuff guesswork about how the tournament will go:

Fed's draw looks a bit on the light side. He has Lleyton but I don't really see a threat there. Most interesting match should be Fed/ Djoko--close, but Fed prevailing.

Next door in the top half, Murray/Safin one of the most interesting matches of the tournament. If Safin is ON, he can win. But my guess is Murray, who will also beat Kolya. Fena will take his section but lose to Murray.

So Fed/Murray for the semi's in the top half, going to Fed, but Murray closing in.

Bottom half. I tend to agree that Ljubo does not have it easy. Tojo, Fish, have their strengths. Still, I'd give it to Ljubo. Meanwhile, though, in the next section is Roddick, who will either win the section or go out to Ollie. You never know with Andy. I'm thinking Andy, and he'll beat Ljubo.

Rafa's section is not easy, up against Misha again. One of them will go on to the quarters against Berdych, who can beat everyone in his section. Vamos Rafa but I think it's up for grabs.

I will say Roddick vs Rafa (or Misha or Berdych) for the bottom semi's, with either Rafa or Misha taking it.

If it's Fed/Misha for the final, rerun Dubai. If it's Fed/Berd, Fed will take it. If it's Fed/Rafa it will be a gigantic news story, much to the dismay of the bulk of MTF ;)

Hey, it IS an interesting draw.

I'm sure that Nadal will beat fedex again, we should remind that he's still the number 2 and for the moment he's not on top but he'll react as the champion he is.

4th r against Misha,QF maybe against Tomas Bedych.
Actually, it can be tough.

Hey, it IS an interesting draw.

Lleyton can potentially go out to Ferrer imo.

I don't see Murray in the SF. As you say, if Safin is on, the Russian will beat him. Kolya could get revenge...Haas would most probably be too strong for Murray as well.

Roddick should get the better of Ljubo this time around...I don't see Ljubo in the SF, maybe not even reaching QF :wavey: Please lose to Fish again... :haha: :haha:

Nadal can get to the SF...Misha will run out of steam soon I'm pretty sure. Besides, I don't think Youzhny is as bad a match for Nadal as some of the biggest hitters out there.

My prediction for the final: Federer v Roddick

Horatio Caine
03-07-2007, 12:05 AM
It's very interesting that Rafa has lost 2 many single-backhand players

Single handers have the advantage of being able to hit a stronger backhand on the stretch imo...which means that Nadal may find it harder to force the issue in a rally and get on top.

Malisse OUT -> Cañas in as LL

Belgian Xavier Malisse has been forced to withdraw from the Pacific Life Open with a right wrist injury. Malisse, the 29th seed, hurt his wrist during his first-round match in Memphis and has not played since.

Fellow Belgian Olivier Rochus, who was originally scheduled to play Spain's Feliciano Lopez in the first round, will move into Malisse's spot and receive a first-round bye.

A qualifier or lucky loser will move into the spot vacated by Rochus.

errrr....can someone tell me wtf is BYE:confused:

LOL, a bye is when a player doesn't have to play the 1st round. Usually high seeded players get byes in the 1st round.

Why do you underestimate the legendary Bye :p

It's not enough that he has to play all the top seeds? Please show some respect next time ;)

It's hard to respect Bye when he never makes it past R1 ;)
