How can you measure a talent?
If Roddick is not on that list, so he should be a very hard worker to be on his positions since 2003, no?

Safin? why not Davydenko?
Gasquet (thouhg I agree with this)? Why not Santoro (for example)
And where the hell is NADAl on your LIST?

Maybe Nadal should copy him for a new service motion. Or Federer, his 1st serve isn't that good.

10 most talented players?

You could try the top ten?

This must be the 999th thread about this...

You cant rlly measure talent. Theres the tennis and the mental/thinking talent. PLaying the big points well, basically doing the right thing at the right time instead of getting to confident.

Well you cannot actualy measure a talent and here we are kind off subjectives ... for example I don't like Roddick's game, neither Nadal's ... soo I will never put them on my list ... I will think at my list and post it later :)

How do you measure talent. What do you mean by Talent? Ivo Karlovic is very talented when it's about Serving so  Precise what fields you mean in talent.

I respect all the opinions but I have to say that 70% of your choises never won a simple Master Series and 80% never won a Grand Slam. It’s true that most of them still have time to win a major tournament but why for exemple did Marcelo Rios in those lists ? Nobody can be really talented in a career with zero Grand Slams. Strange …

Exactly. Nadal in my opinion is much, much more talented than Gasquet and he has proved that. It takes exceptional amounts of talent to totally dominate 2 consecutive claycourt seasons, get to final of Wimbledon on you're worst surface when you'vd only ever played 9 grass court matches before the tournament, and win a whole host of other big titles. Nadal is definately in the top 3 for me along with Federer and Safin.

I really don't understand peoples faith in Gasquet. He can play a a nice back hand and is definately a top 20 player possibly late top ten - but top 3 in talent???

I really don't get it. And please don't reply justifying it - i've read it all before and still don't get it. No offence to Gasquet intended.

Because we're talking about just TALENT, we're not talking about CONSISTENCY.

Rios WAS one of the most talent players ever, but he lacked the consistency or the work ethic to called him one of the best players ever.

I'm surprised about the inclusion of santoro in almost everyone's list, he shows minutes of brilliance but can't maintain in it for an entire match! and i can't believe federer isn't in some people's list i'd like to know their definition of talent!

Tsonga is a very impressive player who lacks focus and has had some injuries. There's a number of guys like this that are floating around but struggle to ascend for various reasons. Tennis can be a cruel sport.

That's why so many people are enjoying Federer's reign, for the first time in a long time an imaginative all court player is pushing around the power bashing baseliner's and that why I want Richard and Novak to develope faster so that we have more all court players in the top 10!

I'm as big a Santoro fan as any ( :worship: ), but this goes to show that people are awarding "style points". It has little to do with one's talent for winning matches, which is the only talent that really matters. ;)

My List:

01) Roger Federer :worship:
02) Marat Safin  Perhaps the biggest waste of tennis talent in the history of the sport. Should have reigned from 2001-2003 with at least 8 or 9 majors. He seems more interested in his harem than anything else :o (<- Take me Marat! ) .
03) Henri Leconte (My Mom's fav :p)
04) Marcelo Rios
05) Andre Agassi

Fillers:

06) Pancho Gonzalez (hearsay)
07) Laver
08) Borg
09) Sampras
10) Vilas  (tie)
10) McEnroe  (tie)

This is a pointless thread which has nothing to do with tennis. Just because you have "talent" (I'm assuming this means some 'natural born God-given gift') doesn't mean you are a good player.
