Here we have the dubai final, one guy whose just started playing after a month off and has come through two hard matches against Djokovic and Haas and another guy whose been playing the best tennis of his life and has a win over Nadal in the same tourney, who wins?, discuss.

Fed in 2,doesn't matter how good the form of his opponents is.
Hope i am wrong and it is a well contested final, but i doubt it.

we have already had this year,Roddick,Gonzalez and Haas, who were playing their best tennis ever, didn't seem to impress Roger

Definatly it will be Fede in 2 sets ... he is just incredible :worship: ... But I think Youzhy will make it dificult and he will fight

Probably Fed in 2.

8-0 Fed
last meetings in Dubai
2006 SF Federer 6-2 6-3
2005 QF Federer 6-3 7-5.

can he make it 3 in a row, funny coz he beat Youzhny 3 in a row in Halle from 2002-2004 as well.

Federer in 2. Youzhny is playing well but Fed usually plays his best in Finals.

For the sake of competition and change Youzhny in 3.

However Youzhny's fatigue will be even more fundamental to tomorrow's match than Federer's level.

If Youzhny can withstand fatigue he can give Federer a very tough match tommorow, otherwise Federer could only face one tough set, or maybe none at all.

Having watched the Feds-Haas match this afternoon I can only expect a victory for Fed. The further he gets, the better he plays...

However I hope that Misha will be able to challenge him and give him a good match, just as Tommy did today.

wow making excuses in case federer wins. And your fave player is not even involved...i see new levels or ridiculousness reached :cuckoo:

regarless of what happens tomorrow, federer has owned youzhny enough times for excuses to lose luster.

Hes not scarred of nadal but he will probably federer and that sucks. He just has to change his game for tomorrow and i dont know y he should do that but everytime a player is on fire, they fall to fed in straight sets. Just like the AO final, USO final, TMC final etc. I dont blame them. Who can change in a day.

Fatigue is not an excuse in Youzhny's case. In todays match against Soderling it was clearly visible the man is not 100% fit

Well Youzhny will certainly feel some fatigue. He has been on a roll for a while. It is also mentally tiring to focus so much on several big matches.

However, Federer has been off competitive tennis for a month. He has only played 3 matches since Australia.

So Youzhny's fatigue may not be instrumental. It will be a combination of fatigue versus rustiness that will determine the winner. And not to mention 8-0 h2h.

Youzhny has nothing to defeat Fed with unless his game has radically changed from last summer. Fed in straights. Yawn.

Roger in 2... No Brainer.

Misha is just another Gonzo-on-fire...or many other X-on-fire-s to come, but I do like his game though

I say Nadal in 2.

I have heard from a good source that after some discussion, tournament directors have discovered that if Dubai had been a RR event, Nadal would have advanced based on his higher ranking, sets won, and points won after 2pm local but before 8pm Eastern Standard (points won outside of this timeframe only count as 1/2 points, unless the winning shot was hit on the left side of the court, then only 1/4 point). The match against Youzhny was reviewed and Nadal should have been declared the winner.

I expect the announcement to come later today.

Sigh...very few expecting even a three setter.

Of course, I am expecting a two set victory for Feds as well- but I hope I am wrong. I do feel bad for guys like Misha who are playing so well and showing real heart and yet- the outcome of this match almost seems a certainty. Can't fault Federer for being as great as he is....but too bad that other players who are still playing damn well see it count for nothing in the title match.

I love ya Feds, but would like some sharing of the hardware a bit- in particular when you run against players such as Gonzo and Youzhny that I have been fans of for a while as well. So go Misha- pull the big surprise. :)

youzhny is playing some great stuff, but this is his second final in 2 weeks and this one os against the greatest player that ever lived. it will be incredibly tough for him, even though federer hasnt been at his imperious best this week.

the best i can see for youzhny is a close first set, then fed will runaway with it. 7-6, 6-2
