I guess Vince heard Mardy was chosen for DC and he released his anger on Stepanek, to show Pat McEnroe he was wrong

don't think that he "released his anger" on Stepanek... if he had done that, he wouldn't have needed a 3rd set tiebreaker... I think, in the end, he was lucky to get away with the win.

Mardy over Vince? That's kinda stupid of PMac.

Scott... there are several factors

"Fish also owns a superior record against Swedish opponents; he is 2-0 against Enqvist, 2-1 against Joachim Johansson and 1-0 against both Bjorkman and Soderling. Spadea does not have a winning record against any of Sweden's five players. He is 2-3 against Enqvist, 0-1 against Bjorkman, 1-1 against Thomas Johansson and has not played either Joachim Johansson or Soderling."

That ^^^^^^^^^^^ may have factored in as well

and holy  Andre played a near PERFECT set of tennis!

anyone else looking at Andre's stats? he is playing SICK tennis. His only UEs are 2 double faults and he had 3 winners in Mirnyi's first service game of the 2nd set to break.

*This is my second time trying to post a response to this. It won't be as good as the first  *

I have to agree with you for the most part. If the only thing that Vince was thinking of was to shove it in McEnroe's face he would've probably not let Radek back in. But Radek is a good player too though so you never know.

I have to say this. McEnroe has always made it a point that he chooses his team based on recent results but now all of a sudden 6 months of previous results makes up for 3 months of inconsistency? I doubt that this will be brought up on tonight's coverage because no matter what type of logic he tries to spin, he'll still look like an ass for the choice he made. And I don't see Vince being completely honest in his press conference unless he doesn't care if he's ever chosen for the DC team. After being disrespected as he just was, I certainly wouldn't want to be a part of the team.

Anyway...WTG Vince!!! :bounce:

It will be a tough one to get into the QFs no matter who he plays. The way that Juan Monaco sems to be playing I think he might be more of a threat than Paradorn. I guess we'll see :) .

Yes, I know. And I understand why you're  about this one. It's always better to see something live. Obviously I'm not too upset about what will be on, but still.....

Well actually it wasn't going to be live anyway. If they show anything live it'd be Venus but still....grrr. Andre's obviously gonna polish Max off pretty fast. Maybe they'll have time to show a little bit of everyone... oh wait this is ESPN we're talking about.

Wait a second.... why are Andy, Andre, Venus, and Serena ALL playing on the same day anyway????? yikes! lol they obviously didn't listen to ESPN too much on that one.

MisterQ
03-29-2004, 10:20 PM
Amer Delic was/is an excellent college player, so it's kind of funny he's playing with the collegiate Senator.

Delic played for Illinois, and won the NCAA Singles Championship last year. He's good at serve-volley. I somehow happened to stumble across the broadcast of the final last year.

Deboogle!.
03-29-2004, 10:21 PM
oh, thanks!!!

Andre broke again, he's gonna win this match in like 50 minutes.... they'll have time to show other stuff on ESPN tonight lol.

His stats are just SICK!!!!!! 24-3 on UEs and 2 of them are DFs!!! Come on nowwwwww

MisterQ
03-29-2004, 10:23 PM
It is amazing when Andre gets into a groove like this. I remember last year in Miami he had ZERO (0) unforced errors against El Aynaoui in the third set.

Even against Sampras he sometimes had only 3 or 4 errors per set.

Deboogle!.
03-29-2004, 10:25 PM
uh oh Andre throwing in 2 more UEs serving out the match lol.... but 25-5 and 3 were DFs... plus he was 10/11 at net. jesus!

Ummm is this picture necessary?????

Break now, Juan!!

Well, some should be happy now because it looks like they have decided to show Roddick's match. A part of me wanted to see this match but I don't look forward to hearing McEnroe drool all over Roddick and make excuses for him. It gets really sad.

Xavier and Guillermo's match is finally going to start!!

Go X!!

I'm thinking this could be a 3 setter though because Guillermo seems to be getting back to his old form.

Come Canas knock the X man out of the tournament, and have another match with Roddick, unlike Malisse, Canas actually has some hope of beating Roddick.

X has been playing much better in Miami. He seems to be in a groove so I wouldn't count him out too early if it's him facing Roddick :D .

Keep it up Xavier!!

Rubbish Tennis724, he doesn't have a chance if he plays Roddick. Actually giving him a chance would be disrespecting Roddick too much.

Roddick could beat Malisse anywhere, even on ice if that was a surface. He has won 2 sets in 8 matches against him, so no chance for him.

We'll see ;) . I'm not saying that X would definitely win but I'm not predicting that X would get steamrolled as you think he would. He seems to be in the mood to put up a fight.

Action Jackson

He goes onto the court everytime he plays Roddick, like he is beaten already and he might as well not turn up and play him with that frame of mind. He will get steamrolled again if he plays Duckboy.
