Roger in trouble again

Roger just lost the first set 3-6

03-29-2004, 01:51 AM
no need to press panic buttons yet, if he loses a break in second then its OMG time

03-29-2004, 01:55 AM
It's not a good sign that Roger got broken twice in the first set.

03-29-2004, 01:56 AM
Relax. Roger often loses the first set; he's shaking off nerves and trying to read his opponent's play. He usually has it figured out by the end of the first set and then goes on to win the next sets. :)

wow he isn't really good at playing back to back big tournies :scared: I hope he still isn't sick or anything, not trying to take anything away from Nadal though. keep it up Nadal:yeah:

Nadal broke in 2nd set.
Is it OMG time?

03-29-2004, 02:15 AM
why should it be OMG time? Nadal is a good player.

03-29-2004, 02:22 AM
well he did it. Nadal def. Federer 6-3, 6-3. well done Nadal  the top half is fairly wide open now, looks like this tournament is gonna go to either Agassi/Roddick/Coria imo

Haven't seen the match but Nadal is a future multi slam winner so his breakthrough win had to come sooner rather then later

Hopefully it was because Nadal played well rather then Roger being sick, looking at the top half of the draw Nadal could go a long way

the important thing for him is to follow this big victory with a good performance for the rest of the tournament and make at least the semis

Um. Wow!

Congrats to Nadal!

well looking at the stats, I think it was more of Nadal's doing, or i should say his serve of all things :scared: Roger was even on winners/errors, Nadal had one or two more errors. he was serving somewhere in the 80% range, pretty impressive. and I agree WyveN, if Nadal doesn't follow up this with another win, then it'll look very weird. I'm not saying he's gotta make the semis, but to just win his next match and avoid the let down

It's a painful match to watch as a Rogi's fan, but in the meantime so great to see a young talent with such great mental strength and wonderful tennis.

WyverN, whether Rogi's is ill or not I can't tell, I only know that Rafael was dictating the play right from beginning till the end, I almost felt like I can't "smell" any sign at all that Rogi's gonna win. I have to say that Rogi's being outplayed today.

There you go for those of you who actually think that Rafael has no chance vs Rogi :)

just watched the match. Roger's net points won was terrible. He missed all the first 6 or 7 and some lethal unbelievable UEs from his forehand in the 2nd set which directly caused the break.

Nadal was playing great, no fear, full of confidence and also made some wonderful shots that were unexpected by Roger.

But I felt his being ill on court. I saw that he was not be able to stretch himself in full run and thus affected his shot-making. Maybe I'm biased.

Anyway all credit to Nadal.

Well Roger can't win every one of them. Maybe the court is also a lil too slow for Roger's preference?

03-29-2004, 05:12 AM
But these courts are faster then australia right?

I don't think anyone expected Roger to win all 9 masters lol

I was talking about Roger not winning all his matches, which was/is to be expected of course. I didn't think he was gonna win this tournament especially after the first round anyway.
