Becker has really disappointed after that Agassi victory at the US open.

I think if he tanked, he would lose in 2 sets, why to play 3 sets and still lose?
And he lost to a player ranked around #165...

Becker won't be in the team for the next match.

On clay he's probably not even top 10 in Germany and even if Belgium doesn't play on clay, he shouldn't be in the team.

Becker is strictly hard court(USA) player

let's not exagerate over becker just because of one game.
Yes to get to the SF he beat ppl outside the top 100, but he also played very well in the australian open and was very competitive against marat. He took a set from Ljubicic... it's his second year on the tour, give the guy a break !!!!
I am sure he will be very good very soon.

Cilic is actually an incredibly talented player, from what I seen in Gstaad I think. I expect big things from him this year.

Cilic is actually an incredibly overrated player. No where near the class of players of a similar age such as Korolev and Del Potro. What has he exactly done to get so much hype? One good tournament where he beat legends such as Andreas Seppi, Dusan Vemic and Andrei Pavel before losing to that clay court legend, Feli Lopez.

I would be suprised if he even reached the top 50.

And i thought you were the one who were saying that Murray will be future number 1 in the world then think again because he will get competition from Cilic

So? Cilic does has the talent to be a top player he proved that at RG beating easily in 2 sets A. Murray

only thing what he has to work on is his mentaly problems.. give him 3 years and
he will be a player who will be seeded at a ATP match or a GS

He did not win the junior title. You should only worry about the winners. Look ar Monfils, Baghdatis, Gasquet, Roddick etc...

Murray is a scrub on clay and so do his results in juniors, for goodness sake Monfils dominated junionrs 2 years ago and he is a scrub in the pros . Cilic has to prove he can compete in the pros before becoming comptetion to Murray

Wimbledon juniors

2002 T.C. Reid (AUS) 5 L. Ouahab (ALG) 7 7-6 (7-5), 6-4
2001 R. Valent (SUI) 10 G. Muller (LUX) 2 3-6, 7-5, 6-3
2000 N. Mahut (FRA) 1 M. Ancic (CRO) 4 3-6, 6-3, 7-5

Reid, Valent and Mahut are of course now top class players.

Winning junior titles doesn't mean much. It shows you have talent but for every junior champion like Federer and Roddick there is a Valent or a Mergea.

Hope you'll do well on clay this year!
I hope,someday,when Nadal is gone,and when you'll "grow up",that you'll be a good clay courter.

Hmm I guess their FU and CH data isn't complete.

Anyway, when a 200+ someone loses to 600+ someone, it's not exactly a big deal. Nor it is a great evidence showing anything particular. After all, a few months later Cilic beat Korolev in Umag. So using your logic, Korolev also sucks.

Im not trying to shoot down the kid, but let him get some more matches under his belt before stating that he is going to be #1 before Murray.

He is talented, that is true, but will his talent be able to translate into the men game is something that (Gasquet, Nadal, Murray, Berdych, ETC) were all able to do successfully. Granted he is the same bed with JMDP, but he is already in the top 100 and getting results. Cilic might be a late bloomer for all we know.

Time will tell...

Jaap

Cilic will be no where near as good as Murray, Berdych, Gasquet, Baghdatis, Del Potro etc.

At best he will be a solid top 100 player.

Only injuries will prevent Cilic from cracking into top 50. He will be a very good player, but his game is still developing

Don't forget Whitehouse ;)
Yes that is true not all junior champs are world class players though I have to disagree with you on Mahut who has won prize money over a million dollars and who is close to being in the top 50. Valent I think had some serious injury problems. I think he has quit tennis now. he never really got to prove himself.

If Del Potro had played juniors last year he would have won a Junior title in Grand Slams. So it is a shame to see that top junior players like him don't compete in junior Grand Slams.

Thank you!! I think Becker has a great game. He's a diamond in the rough. I love his topspin. It's not too high, but it psyches out other players, at times. ;) He even puts topspin on his serve.
