Well done Robin, finally the Belarussians have met a nation that can play well on the Minsk ice rink.

Big servers with dodgy movement on a fast court. Lots of winners are to be expected.

A lot of Mirnyi's opponents seem to have generous UE counts, perhaps because missed returns and passes are counted as forced errors when they shouldn't always be, but Soderling's winner to error total over 4 hours of play: 92 to 18.

As I said. Fast court, big serve with decent volleys, bad mover on the other side of the net. Not surprising to see those numbers.

Hopefully now Belarus will be out of the WG for good. :)
They have no business being there.

Max would have beaten both Bjorkman and the Toad on clay seriously.

Sweden would probably like this court for their match against Argentina. On a court like this I think Argentina would struggle to beat Sweden. Certainly Nalbandian has to be fit for Argentina to win in Sweden.

You do know Bjorkman's record against Mirnyi, don't you? Clay is.... not Max's friend in that particular match-up.

but Max does normally well on clay for at least 1 tourn pr yr and has some wins over the best on clay

Bjorkman and Toad are hopeless on clay, and so is Tojo who is even worse.

I can't see Belarus ever using anything other than that lightning-fast court if they happen to get home advantage, though - it will still work against the majority of teams, as seen by the recent victories over Argentina and Spain (who were lacking their best players at the time, of course).

I know Bjorkman has a win over Mirnyi at RG among his dozen others, and Tojo probably got one in on clay somewhere as well.

Soderling is a very underrated player on clay IMO.

Very nice score, I like when the things are going this way.
Mirnyi saved two set points in the 1st and three set points in the 3rd set; Soderling saved two match points in the 4th :yeah:
In Paris 2004 Mirnyi defeated Soderling in QF after saving one MP. Good revenge Robin...

I think the Scandinavium wouldn't mind an ice rink to be laid down for DC.

Are you that bitter just because Max owned Safin in Minsk in 2004?

Fangirl, your business is in the Safin forums, please do us a favor and spare us from this huge amount of :bs:.
