What an epic battle - 4 hours 20 mins

Great fight from Fly to pull that out after twice going a set behind.

First rubber Belgium have ever taken off Australia :yeah:

Winning a fifth set against Hewitt in Davis Cup is no mean feat

Ahh, i'm frustated at the moment, lleyton played like a hack tonight, he served worse than elena dementieva.

Given that, i can't believe the amount of times Kristof saved break points in that final set with those shots, it was incredible even though it was incredibly frustating to watch.

Well Done Kristof, you deserved it. Now have to hope for some sort of mircale with guccione.

Me too, he was *4-5 40-15 in the 3rd set and had an advantage in deuce... :(

Vliegen is a player. Im not really that shocked since Vliegen has had some wins over some top players before and his game is pretty solid.

One of the most mediocre matches I've seen from Lleyton. He was so incredibly average in all aspects of the match. His serve was terrible, his ground strokes have very little power or precision. How often in the past would he wind up on the forehand and unload a huge winner? Well he tried a few times tonight and it just didnít work. Heís a shadow of the player he once was and this loss is one of the most disappointing in his career. Iím shattered and I donít know how Hewitt will respond to this.

Cmon Guccione, work a miracle. We sure need one as this could get ugly otherwise.

Didn't Hewitt have the best DC record ever, in history or something? A loss is not shocking, it is a loss to a player he typically would have worked out in 3 sets. Good for Kristof.

Hewitt is just not the player he used to be. Served terrible, and for someone who is supposed to be a consistent player, he isnt consistent anymore. Kristof isnt exactly known for mental toughness, but he won the points when it mattered, and Hewitt couldn't.

Yeah bu Hewitt is a player who can bounce back from every loss , I think his former coach Cahill was right - he shouldn't try to develop a weapon but to improve his game in the way he was playing in the past.

I hope Lleyton will bounce back :worship:
Now he is killing Belgians in doubles :p

Hewitt will win, I'm sure of it! After that performance today, and seeing how pumped up he was, Iím very confident heíll square the tie. Hewitt is not the guy to lose two rubbers in the same tie.

I'm happy Australia won the doubles because otherwise today's matches would not have been exciting anymore.
I kind of hope that it will all be decided in the fifth match which goes five sets, that would be a typical Davis Cup scenario.
Would be nice if Belgium wins but I like the Aussies as well so I'm just enjoying whatever good tennis is shown this WE.

Wow. Hewitt and Rochus are already fighting it out for hours. Hewitt won the first two sets, then Rochus took the third in a TB. Rochus was leading 4-0 in the 4th but Hewitt has come back till 4-2. Very good match IMO. Both guys are playing well and lots of long rallies.

Hewitt took the fifth set. He is really amazing in five setters.
Now Vliegen has to finish it.
