OOOHHH........So Sorry Wawrinka:hug: It must be very serious for him to be having an operation the following day. Best of luck to him and I hope he recovers completely and quickly.

Spain are heavy favourites now.

Weird injury nonetheless though.

Switzerland without Wawrinka = 0-5... maybe 1-4 if Chiudinelli will play in the 5th rubber against Lolo

Allegro is still there to win the doubles. Chiudinelli can beat the 2nd spanish in a dead rubber.

I think Federer will want to win Davis Cup and the Olympics in 2008. But first he must win Roland Garros 2007

I forgot about that, you cant enter the Olympics without a davis cup match, no wonder tim henman is back on the squad.....

Federer always plays for his country in September to avoid relagation.

Bad luck Wawrinka. :(

Makes the decision from Federer not to play look even more stupid. :o

he gets hurt every damn week. He needs to do something different.
If he is just 90% on clay he will lose, even there.

Sounds fishy to me. He needs an emergency operation on his knee but the Davis cup website just said "he had a training accident". sounds like the extra sticky carpet probably jarred his knee and the Swiss federation don't want to admit their surface is dangerous.

I will take my tin foil hat of know.

If it is indeed dangerous, ATP (for having this surface in some of the ATP tournaments) or ITF should admit and do something about it, before the Swiss admits. Switzerland chose this surface from the list of the surface that the home team can choose. There is no need to blame Switzerland in terms of the surface.

Can the home team pick any surface they want? Don't they have to pick from some sort of approved list of surfaces? Wouldn't the ITF have approved this surface prior to it being laid?

Hope Stan's injury (torn ligament?) heals completely...but now we know that when Thuggy doesn't want to play a tournament he uses the "strained muscle" excuse, though in this case there was obviously no reason for him to play.
