And Serena's comeback has just started, hmm...

I dunno, maybe Benneteau's playing well. He hasn't had a BP all match.

Domino
03-26-2004, 04:26 PM
Well, the guy has already played a match, has nothing to lose, while Mardy hasn't had matchplay in this MS yet, and has been waiting too long to play. Little things like this can make a difference. Especially to headcases-sorry Mardy.

He's a very good person I think, such a veteran, he also had some very good matches in Miami the years before. I like that.

Todd! :smooch:

seriously was Wayne injured?
I don't know shit about that... if he was really injured, that must have been a very severe injury if he couldn't finish three more points... would have been over after this game and 0-6 for Coria.

Anyway, I don't know what to think about Ferreira now. He totally collapsed after hanging in very tough in the 1st set and maybe he was also very frustrated... or an injury... we don't know, maybe we soon read some details about that... :haha: what the fuck was going on there

the problem with Florida, esp. in the Spring is that in the afternoon you have these freak monsoon storms. It's so humid there that by mid-afternoon it just bursts sometimes.

I used to go every February to a place near Miami and almost every afternoon between 2-4 we would be swimming, it'd be gorgeous and then at some point during those hours, the sky would get dark, it would thunderstorm for about 20-30 minutes, and then the sun would come out again. It's quite different from Indian Wells last week where it's the desert and you don't get random moisture coming down from the sky lol.

If you look at the radar it's just tiny little spots of precipitation, unlike yesterday where there was more of a system rolling through. This should pass in a few minutes and they should be able to start playing and then of course in a half hour or an hour later it could all happen again LMFAO!!

then I must really blame the ATP and the whole organization for that. If that is no secret that Florida is troubled with monsoon rains or even little hurricane winds, then it's the totally wrong place and the totally wrong time for an outdoor tennis Masters on such a DATE. :banghead:

I am sure Rainer will snap out of his slump because he is a good player but also, more importantly, a hard worker. But it must have taken alot out of him to achieve all he did last year and it may take a while before he does return to at least top 20 form. Clay is probably Rainer's worst surface and if he is suffering with a thigh injury and lack of confidence it is probably not the ideal time for him for the clay season to start. But my guess is he will probably return to form at Halle and from then on I think he will soon be back on track. That's my guess anyway. But whatever its only a matter of time before he starts playing good again. :)

I also thought he retired and last time I've checked the results page (some hours ago already) it showed 5-0 for Coria indeed. Looked as if the match was not finished, but now the results show 6-0 for Coria.
So looks like I was wrong saying Ferreira withdrew. But it showed 5-0 and Coria as the winner in bold. So it's still a miracle what happened there *g*

I'm not sure, I've never been to Australia and I'm not well informed about their "normal" weather during 2nd half of March. But perhaps late March is already too late and too cold for Melbourne.

But Australian Open in February should be okay.

Miami :wavey:

the page is saying "The NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami won the ATP Masters Series Tournament of the Year for the second consecutive year."

well, I don't think they are due for a THIRD consecutive win :haha:
sure, you cannot blame the tournament or the organization if you have bad luck with the weather, but the success of a tournament always depends highly whether you get your matches in on time or not. And if your whole schedule gets rained out, it's bad....

As far as rain ruining tournaments I can't help but think of Wimbledon. And I've had some awful days at Wimbledon where I saw very little tennis but a lot of rain. :rain:

And yet.........if not for the rain there wouldnt have been that wonderful middle "people's sunday" a few years ago and of course I think of the Goran v Rafter final of 3 years ago where because of the rain the final to took place on the third Monday and fans (myself included) were able to get in by queueing on the night before and paying 40 pounds (cheap considering). So much of what was special about that match had to do with the fact that the audience was all real fans rather than corperate rich people. The goodwill that existed between the Aussies and the Croats is something I will always remember. I think it had to do with the fact that both of them were such likable players and also that every one felt genuinely privileged to be there.

So I guess even with rain sometimes good things can come from it. ;)

I also know a men's doubles final that took place on the third Monday. I don't remember the year, but I knew Michael Stich and John McEnroe won it?
What a match! 19-17 in the 5th set for Stich/McEnroe then :)

then I must really blame the ATP and the whole organization for that. If that is no secret that Florida is troubled with monsoon rains or even little hurricane winds, then it's the totally wrong place and the totally wrong time for an outdoor tennis Masters on such a DATE. :banghead:

It always rains in Miami. It's right by the ocean; it's practically tropical; it's gonna rain in every season. Summer, Winter, Autumn, and Spring.

I'm not sure, I've never been to Australia and I'm not well informed about their "normal" weather during 2nd half of March. But perhaps late March is already too late and too cold for Melbourne.

But Australian Open in February should be okay.

Ask the Aussies. I hear it rains in March in that area of Australia. But, unless you are in the desert, you can expect rain just about anywhere. Even then, last year in IW they lost part of a men's semi to rain.

nothing special to mention. His record there is only decent, but like many other players, Schüttler isn't that outstanding worse on clay how you, and probably many other people also, think.
