Congrats Lucho on winning your second career title especially against Massu who he has never taken a set off in 6 matches and beating him in front of his friends and family.

Sure it was a MM event, and this is not as good as his first win in Acapulco where he defeated Calleri, Gaudio and then Chela to take the title.

Lucho was being the more aggressive in the match and was serving well and he was down 3-5 in the 1st set. He was leading 40-15 and a great mishit backhand from Massu got it to 40-30 and he took his one bp opportunity.

Horna has stopped making as many errors as previously and realised on the heavy mud that he didn't have to hit winners after 4 shots. He became more patient and then took advantage of the Massu short balls and his inside out forehand was working very well.

Massu just can't win his hometown title it seems.

Very well played by Horna. As GWH said, the inside out forehand was working and it pounded relentlessly Massu weak backhand side, causing Nico's short balls. Now I hope Massu doesn't lose the confidence he gained back against Montañes. We need him in good shape to defeat Andreev.

David "Dirty" Sanchez was a worse loss.

as a big CH1NO fan that was one of the biggest chokes in chilean sports history

r1os was up 6-1 2-0 and 2 break points on dirty sanchez serve... since that sanchez was like a wall and r1os lose his composture and lose 12 of the last 16 games of the match...

maybe the hardest loss in r1os' carrer

now it's nico's turn to keep this fuc...ing curse alive...

I hope this is a turning point in Lucho's career.

I think his tennis is good enough to get him to Top 15 with no sweat.

Massu was too defensive in this match, then again Lucho's play made it hard for Massu to be aggressive.

The strangest thing was seeing Massu hitting a backhand down the line winner, he normally only does this against Roddick.

Chucho and Lucho both outplayed Massu in their respective finals.

Top 15 is a bit over the top and yes I like Lucho. I mean he has to improve his returns, fitness and backhand, but he is good enough to be between 25-40.

The result was a pleasant surprise for me, it was great for Lucho to get his second title this week in Massu's backyard. Massu gained some match practice that will be useful for Davis Cup, he needed to raise his level after the atrocious showing at the AO. Now good luck to Chile against Russia.

Just cause you lose serve on clay doesn't mean you choked. The way you are making it out as if Massu was dominating this match. He was never dominating, while the 1st set was close and hard fought, he was never the aggressor.

till *5-4 massu lead was a 50/50 match, nico was trying to play long points... in his style...

even when lucho got broken from 40-15 with all ues... horna was dominating the game

but when lucho broke nico for *5-5 gain a lot of confidence and nico got some nervous

this was the same way than the past massu-horna matches... the BIG difference was today that lucho was patience and erased his ues... and nico got nervous and never put pressure on horna's serve in the 2nd set...

in the past nico wins over lucho was always the same, nico played great defense and lucho lost his composture and his head and he started to do tons of ues...

The 1st set was huge in the context of the whole match, considering all of their matches have always been in straight sets.

Lucho cut down his mistakes, while being aggressive, that is not down to Massu choking. He finally got into his head that he wasn't going to blast him off the court and Lucho served very well and the only reason he lost that one service game was cause of dumb errors and Massu taking his chance when it came about.

Lucho was clearly the better player in this match and it wasn't a choke by Massu. Once he finally a won a set against him, then Lucho imposed his game without the mistakes.

" It's an experience that is good for me, and i leave with one of the greatest emotions in my life".

"The truth is I'm very happy and it's really hard not to cry right now"

The number one player from Peru did also show himself grateful at the Chilean public, who gave him a standing ovation after beating Massu " The Chilean crowd is amazing and thanks for everything".

Horna also thanked to "all the people that have been supporting me, my family, my sponsors... these are the moments to thank more than anything to my wife".

Only watched the first set but from what I saw , I thought Horna played a really smart aggressive match. His serve was such a weapon on the clay. Massu just couldn't get his own attack going it seemed. The pressure of winning at home and Horna's play did him in. Once Massu was broken back and lost the set, I felt that was it for him. Some curse:o
