Does Murray have the best backhand on tour?

I believe Mats Wilander said this during the Nadal-Murray match at AO - replay was on eurosport the other day. I was surprised he came out with a comment. I know that Murray has a good backhand, but really is it the best? I would say Safin's was better, and probably others too.

Just wondered what you guys thought ?

Actually Ljubicic has a pretty nice backhand for a big guy like him.

It's a good way to be, just don't let it hinders your tennis analysis. ;)

Nadal's is a bit too big for my tastes, same for Blake's. But, c'mon, Murray's got nothing back there.

Best backhand down the line on the tour = Marat :p Can't argue with that! :D

Richard Fromberg obviously.

Marat's is nice, but as many of his coaches have noted it can sag at times, particularly at the beginning of the season. I think a good hour 3xweek of squats and lunges 3 sets each of 20 reps would take care of this

I'd say that the best backhands around are: Safin,Berdych,Santoro ,Bozoljac :)

Yes! Of couse....Thats why Marat beat Nalbandian at the US Open and at Kooyong.

Maybe Marat beated him twice because of other factors...

Karlovic serves better than Nadal, but I do expect Nadal to win in any surface...

Murray has an excellent backhand, but it's not as reliable as Nalbandian's or as versatile as Federer's

1. Nadal
2. Nalbandian
3. Murray
4. Safin
5. Federer
6. Gasquet

Nalbandian got to #3 with only his BH being above average, and it's miles above average, i.e. the best. It's Nalby, Safin, Fed, but Murray's is well above average.

Obviously Federer but noone's mentioned Haas. His backhand is pretty good and Gasquet's is a lovely-looking shot. I think Murray's is up there in a Nadal sort of way.

I'm suprised to see people mention Nadal's backhand.....I thought the forehand was his strongest wing? The backhand is more of a defensive shot IMO.
