Been down all day for me too - i'm in London.

As a marketing person who has done websites I am hoping they are totally going to rethink the site and how it represents tennis. By that I mean what it covers and more importantly what it doesn't, and the tone it adopts.

It hardly is a motivates the fans at the mo.

glad there's this thread. i hate to sit here by myself, wondering what's wrong with my connection :p

danton - they are doing it in house still i believe. there's just not the experience and knowledge to do a truly excellent and professional website. they were unhappy before with an external agency... but that's only because they had a lousy one, one with 'connections' ...

This is what I'm getting.

There are so many good creative agencies. They should go with a smaller one which will put their passion and time into the creative aspect of the site. To be honest when I saw who was the new person in charge of the commercial and marketing side of ATP i immediately thought 'jobs for the boys'.

really? i was thinking now that the old 'communications' guy has left, something new can be done about all those things, including the website. not too hopeful, you think?

Ex Man United man. Maybe I was jumping the gun but nothing on what the papers said about his appointment made me think he can do this. His previous posts were ones which had huge budget and an already large following, the passion for the product was already there. I also saw nothing creative to suggest he coould generate new routes to market and expand the brand outside of the traditional fan base. Plus he failed with make Man U popular in the US and that is something the ATP is working on.

Hope i'm wrong but there also seems to be bit of 'new labour' about the atp at the mo. By that I mean lets tinker with things rather than having a joined up cohesive plan. It's not about the big idea it's about a five year strategy across all parts of the game.

ok now i seem to recall there's been some discussion before about this new guy.

anyway the previous one was an ex-journalist who i don't believe had any corporate executive experience whatsoever, don't even think of mentioning budget and marketing to him! lol

it's a tendency for corporate types to adhere to the old boys club mentality anyway. it's everywhere ;)

Why thank you very much. :) I don't understand why we got different status codes, but I guess it doesn't matter now, cause the site is back for me. :)
