That was a Kings special on Goorj's big night :worship:

Wasn't on TV here, but looks like he showed some balls leaving Worthington in with 5 fouls, he got a ton of time for a guy with 5 and it paid off.

Best coach in the league IMO, stating the obvious there though.

Considering Singapore is in a dogfight for a playoff position I'm pretty surprised at this afternoon's line .. besides that, anytime NZ is laying points it's worth paying attention to playing their opposition .. Singapore +5.5 looks good to me ..

BTW .. two biggest totals of the season for today's games .. both look a little inflated to me ..

dave nz
01-24-2007, 06:13 AM
Slingers +5.5 for me too, sorry for the late post, been busy.

Mr Flamboyant
01-24-2007, 06:44 AM
It's pretty deadly betting against Brisbane atm .. but I do reckon the Dragons +14.5 also looks good for later tonight ..

The Dragons at least have motivation working in their favour .. Brisbane's won 12 in a row and has a two game cushion at the top of the ladder .. They've been playing at such a high level for such a long time now, SURELY, SURELY they're due to drop their guard at least slightly at some stage .. ? Maybe not enough to lose outright but enough for South to play them close tonight ..

dave nz

Alot of niggle in this Breakers game. Big game for the Slingers and they are tense, trying too hard, which is never a good thing in hoops hopefully they sort that out for the 2nd half.

Timeout, all too easy for the Breakers right now.

2 wins - 1 Loss ..
very lucky in Perth after a 62 first quarter and 107 HF
very lucky in tigers game with a 3 almost at the buzzer

Loss in Sydney was very Bizarre .. i don't think anyone expected such a display from Kings 28-8 first quarter and 106 -75 final score

Taipans have caught a HUGE break tonight ..Townsville AND Sydney losing .. Now if only they can stop being sooks and get their collective asses in gear they may have a shot at the top four ..

Not a big fan of Owens JMO. Give em a couple of quality bigs and Cairns would be a title contender. Still they have a sluggers chance.

Yep .. I started a thread on ozhoops this week about this ("taipans are done" under my alias 'Sherlock') where apart from questioning the group's hunger I outlined centre and shooting guard as their two major weaknesses .. Owens is a nightmare .. One game he's going for 20 & 12 the next he's bricking hook shots and racking up more fouls than points .. It's been the same theme with big kev all season - he's trying to get a feel for the league and find his best form .. well a fortnight out from the finals and nothing's changed .. The worst part about bagging KO is that he's an absolute salt-of-the-earth individual .. a genuine nice guy ..

Cairns also needs a 'two' guard who can just create his own shot and fill it up regularly .. Cortez Groves and Mike Helms are two names I've heard a few whispers about for next season .. Although Alan Black refuses to even look that far down the track while this season is still live ..

Grabau and Owens for me are two players I would show the door to. I don't have a problem with many of the others and actually like the look of two of the Taipans in season signings....Cook and Thornton.

Not a big Helms fan and I think Groves has been badly out of form alot of this season. Don't know the contract situations but Harvey and Corletto are a couple of guys that spring to my mind about that guard you are talking about.

That was pathetic to say the least from ther Kings - I had a feeling a letdown was coming after their comeback win against the Hawks, but geez not that much of a letdown

Tigers show they are still the team to beat IMO, essentially took out the Crocs without Anstey for the majority of the second half after being in foul trouble most of the game, Tucker and Hoare playing banged up from all reports (lol!!) - great win

Playing the 4 totols on Saturday:

1. Over 202.5 in Tigers X Slingers (line moved later to 204.5) ..last time met in Melbourne tigers won 113-102.. with a -12 spread , Melbourne at home .. similar score to last time is mosre likely

2. Under 212.5 in 36ers X Bullets .. previous meeting 93-115 and 116-95 ..likely the under better .. total should be difently less than that

3. Under 205.5 Hawks X Breakers .. previuos meeting 98-95 .. last 3 games for Hawks they scores very very low (regardless whom they played)

4. Under 212.5 Taipens X Crocs .. previous metting 102-108 & 92 -118 both in Townsville . Can't see both scoring over 212.5 in cairns.

Mr Flamboyant
01-26-2007, 11:45 AM
Agree on Taipans under .. my (soon to be former) book has it at 214.5 ..

They're banking on this being the highest scoring game between these two teams at the Cairns Convention Centre .. EVER ..

I hate unders lately and totals in general but this one does stand out .. I expected 208 ..

Today the Taipans talked up the need to defend Townsville really well .. esp Brad Newley both on the rim and the perimeter ..

I'll be Brisbane so won't be at this game (timing of holidays appalling) but I just hope the Taipans don't over-compensate with their perimeter 'd' with donut defense .. perth, and Paul Rogers in particular, exploited that last friday ..

Leaning the other way on the Taipans pk Dave .. Just think it has all the right ingredients for the Snakes tonight - they're coming off two consecutive losses at home, they're 0-2 in the h/h series, better rested than the Crocs and take my word for it they'll have at least 4,500 in the "fortress" tonight baying for Crocodile blood! they've also trained the house down this week .. they're pumped up for this one ...

Dare I say it .. Kings +2.5 v Melbourne ... seems every time I talk up a team's supposed need to win, they take the gas .. But this is an enormous match for the Kings .. Could go a long way towards solidifying a top four spot .. Another tick in their favour is wednesday's EMBARRASSING 30 point loss to West Sydney .. The third factor that makes me like this Sydney's EMBARRASSING defeat to the Tigers in Canberra last time they met and the fourth is the fact that they've been waiting at home for this game while Melbourne played Singapore last night and travelled today .. This is surely a prime spot for Sydney to grab one against Melbourne ..

Kings +2.5 & even ML ($2.20) looks good ..
