Ginepri v Blake...can it be closer than you think?

I mean this in a serious way, and not a way to get at Ivan or piss others off...

The way I see it...here are two guys with good, big serves and a pretty similar baseline game. Is there not a chance that Ginepri can cause a huge upset here? Looking at some of Blake's results from last year, he seemed to lose to more of the power players than clay-court style players.

Furthermore, the pressure is on Blake, and most people seem to think he can perhaps go all the way to the final...

Usually when Americans play against each other its very close, but i still think Blake will win, i think he actually will make it to the final. Granted he does not choke against Nadal or Murray. Which is possible with him.

Ginepri definitely has a chance, Blake is at most a slight favourite here.

Ginepri has an excellent hard court game, and can match Blake's power, the winner of this match will make it to the semis.

I do favor James, though, because I like him and because of his proven piggy-roasting skills

3-1 for Blake :)

I hope Blake doesn't choke, because he's a better player and a favorite here.

I saw the match when Robby beat James in LA. It was close. James has improved a lot since then and Robby's level has probably decreased. So I think James will win with *relative* ease, but yes, I think it's possible that it can be closer than I think :haha:

No, Blake will win easily.

I honestly think James is playing the tennis of his life -- even better than the Masters' Cup -- but of course it's always possible he won't bring it tonight.

I can be a great dramatic match I feel :) Ginepri - who has nothing to loose - will make him work very hard. Want 5 sets!
I hope for a match of the tourtnament so far. :)

Is the difference in their game foot speed? How is Robby's backhand? I'm actually nervous for Blake. I hope he brings it today.

I wouldn't say there is a HUGE difference in their speed. Robby's BH is pretty good, he has some variety with it, he can take it up the line and can also hit short angles with a lot of topspin... But I don't know if he has enough to trouble James right now with the way James is playing. When I saw them play in July 2005, the worst thing James did was go for the huge return winners like every point, and he was missing them, especially on big points. But he is making those returns now. so I think Robby's serve will be threatened pretty much every time he steps up. Of course, Robby is a good returner too and stuff, but I just don't see it happening right now.

Blake in 3....please as I don't want him to spend too much time on court. Needs his rest for what's to come;)

If this was scheduled for say a 1pm start, I would have given Robby a huge chance, but given the players will probably be on court around 5pm when the heat won't be a huge factor, Jimmy B will take care of him

James possibly beat Robby in 3 or 4

But, If Robby can make it to fifth set, He may get some chance to win the match.

Yeah, chanchinho, he won the first two easily huh?

A couple of points here and there and they could have been grindind 'til now in the 5th.

But James won and will roast your poor little piggy in 4 days, so it's all good :)
