No, he said he was playing Valencia in preference to Barcelona because it's a tough time of year with lots of big tournaments one after another so he just chose one...that was before he got the chicken pox, mind you...so maybe he won't even play Valencia...who knows...

Lovely to see Paulo's name again, although the chances of him actually playing aren't very likely

I think Ferrero asked for a WC, in case he decides to play in the last minute...

Him, Sluiter and Popp are going to have soooo much fun in Barcelona... I wouldn't mind seeing Karlovic drawn against one of the top players early on, I bet even on clay he could push 'em to tiebreaks.

That definitely looks like the tournament to watch that week. Kudos to JanMike and Todd for joining in the fun. Tough field for sure, but more money and more points for each round so it could turn out to be a good move for both. I'd like to see Popp do well here too, but I don't think he's very fond of the surface either.

Ferrero has declined the WC he hasked for...he is going to get some more tests done and take a break instead.

Ferrero takes time out
Juan Carlos Ferrero has turned down a wildcard for next week's Barcelona Open in order to help his recovery from a bout of chicken pox.
The French Open champion returned after a month out for Spain's Davis Cup quarter-final against the Netherlands.
Ferrero won both of his singles matches but was then beaten in the first round of the Monte Carlo Masters on Tuesday.

His coach Antonio Martinez Cascales said: "The best thing is to stop and return to action when he is 100%."

Ferrero risks missing the other clay court Masters Series events in Rome and Hamburg in the build-up to the French Open.

Good idea, he has obviously not fully recoverd yet.
But why would he need a WC to enter that tournament ? Is his ranking not enough ???

Anyone who didn't enter the tournament until the deadline need a WC to play, no matter his ranking!
