BelgianWaffle
03-18-2004, 07:55 PM
what makes it so french? ;)
I really don't like it. It looks like it was made by some toddler in kindergarten :p

very "artsy" i like it, its refreshing than seeing posters with the players on it and such

*Ljubica*

I love it too - as Naldo says - it's refreshing to see something different on a poster, and I think it's so clever too - the more you look at it, the more you can see if that makes sense - yes - it's great :) And yes, I agree with Angelito that it's very French - even down to the small touches like the tennis ball near the top in the French colours - very classy and artistic.

Ugh. Someone's kid scratched that one out and someone said, "Hey let's make a poster out of it", right?

Exactly my thoughts.

Angelito

Tangy,

I bet no matter how it looks you'll love the US Open poster this year. :cuckoo:

I respect you opinions but WHY are they always so lacking of foundations?

I like it. Don't love it --- but I like it.

I love it. I always love the Roland Garros posters - by far the best of all the Slams. Truly original. :)

jazz_girl
03-18-2004, 11:43 PM
I think it's one of the most originals out there, I like it!

sigmagirl91
03-18-2004, 11:56 PM
It's different; just give it time, and see if the poster can make its mark on sponsors and players....

MisterQ
03-18-2004, 11:58 PM
It's already growing on me.

Um, as Queen Rebecca herself said, to make assumptions about people you know absolutely nothing about is .... stupid. http://www.cellar.org/images/smilies/eek7.gif

Unfortunately for you, the assumptions about you are almost always right.

Mmmm... nice painting! And who said we can't have the art work of kindergarten pupil for a Grand Slam poster???

Here's cover of Davis Cup program. I really like this illustration! Still can't find a credit for it. Oh, well.

Well done hypocritical one, you do that to me all the time. Yes, I have plenty of examples of this, which you still won't address.

Anyway back to the topic, the poster isn't that bad better than the AO superheroes thing, then again there are worse things that are on galleries and cost as much as Developing Nations debts to the First World.

i really liked the rg poster last year... it was my fav... but now this one i don't like *yet*

Yonge
03-19-2004, 02:43 AM
I love this poster! And Rogicomel, you are so right! Why not use a kindergarten poster if it's better than a professional one?

Lee
03-19-2004, 02:59 AM
I don't think the poster is the art work of a kindergarten pupil. There are so many subtleties in it to be coming from a child.

The poster definitely grows on you. And there are many layers to it.

It's different so i like it...

I like the RG poster much more than the DC one.

*Ljubica*
03-19-2004, 11:21 AM
Well no doubt I'll get accused of being anti-Amercian again (yawn), but I don't like that DC poster at all - too each time I see it though - as Lee says - so many subtleties in it.

So I guess you know everyone in the whole world cause I ALWAYS see you making assumptios about everyone and everything. Of course WRONG assumptions.

One more thing.... I SO KNOW YOU Tangy, which means I can assume pretty much everything about you.

Take care.

I dont like it. Maybe it'll grow on me, but right now it just looks like some kid's painting. Not really appropriate for a tournament poster.

Lady
03-19-2004, 12:38 PM
I don't like it too, really looks like some kid did it. I don't like Davis Cup's one either ;)

03-19-2004, 12:49 PM
*yawn* Unfortunately for you, you'll always be talking out of your ass thinking your shit don't stink.

I would talk, tangy, your shit stinks to high heaven, and you just are too ignorant to do something about it. And I am just too savvy to call you on it....
What, you can't handle shit, tangy? Tell me, so I will PISS on your parade next time, rather than SHIT on it....

Angelito
03-19-2004, 12:53 PM
I like it cause - as some have already said - its refreshing. And I love the mixture btw sport and art, I think it's something we should see more often.
Anyway its just MHO.

03-19-2004, 01:40 PM

Dearest tangerinus (to use one of George's phrases), - I can assure you that Angelito was not basing his "accusations" at you because of your choice in art - they were in fact based on the majority of your other posts in other threads, where you seem to accuse everyone who doesn't like Roddick and other American players, of being "anti-American"

And as to some of the foul-mouthed insults you have thrown at him and Sigmagirl, - well they are both very dear friends of mine, and I personally get very offended to hear friends described like this by someone who has never met them either.

Everyone if entitled to their opinions, without having obscenities hurled at them.

Angelito
03-19-2004, 06:22 PM
I personally wouldn't accuse you of being anti-American just because you don't like the DC cover ... unlike Angelito, who made the bizarre and egregious assumption that I only like US Open posters (huh?) and therefore I must hate the rest of the world (double huh??).

You know this site keeps a history of every bullshit you have posted? Don't make me search for 1000 of examples where you accused people of being antiamerican just because they didn't share your opinion. (triple huh???)

:haha: Oh that's priceless. Someone whom I've never conversed with, never seen before, and has a little over one hundred posts to his/her name and they claim to "know" me the way my friends do and actually takes his/her assumptions about a stranger to be the marked truth.

Well, here's an assumption I just made about you which I know I'm 10000% right about: you're a fucktard.

And don't call me "Tangy". My friends call me Tangy. Not tools like you who think they "know" me.

Bye now. :wavey:

Ok Tangy. Can I call you honey then?

What I meant by saying that I SO KNOW YOU is that you're so predictably.... you know when I saw the new Roland Garros poster I was 100% sure that were going to be posting here and saying "I don't like it, bla, bla, bla.... I'll preffer something more american, bla, bla, bla...."

You said you were embarassed for Sigma, and you know I'm actually embarassed for you. If I were you I'd change my user name and start a new life here at the forum.

Well Tangy ooops.... I meant honey, try not to be so predictably and be "quiet"

A big hug!! :wavey:

sigmagirl91

I'm really embarrassed for you, tanger-anus. That avatar that states your location should really read something else.
How do I know that you're not living on 8 Mile Rd., as a card-carrying member of the TPT Tenants' Association? Who's to say that you're not the last surviving member of the Clampett family living in the Ozarks in the family compound (which, by the way, is a cardboard, tin foil shotgun shack in the middle of the woods)? And you just might live in your rat and roach-infested outhouse in the Bayou, chain smoking weed and crack from a straw...
So, calling me ignorant doesn't excuse the fact that you came out of the womb that way. Just looking at your hypocritical posts leads me to believe that you were raised up to be what you called the "Eurotrash punks" that you encounter regularly-because, after all, garbage knows it own kind....

Here we go. Another thread becomes WW III (or WTAWorld II better) That Roddick thread is still burning :shout:

Why don't U guys and girls start a new thread about what you don't like about the other ... let's see what happens ;)

Not a bad Idea, though I don't see anyone posting there. Still we can give it a try.

It would be almost like an UN session before the war on Irak.

What is it that's so great about the DC poster Tangerine??? I have to say that it's on my least favourite list, along with the AO one...

Angelito

You know, if you take a look at the Roland Garros web site, it looks even better there cause the vivid colors contrast with the white of the page.

Nice work.

Hey Jazz!! The guy who painted the poster is a well known jazz drummer, according to the site.

His name is Daniel Humair, maybe you know him...

I think on the same line as Tangy, the RG and AO 2004 posters were pretty poor, but I like the DC one too, and obviously so did the USTA, because I think its being kept as their kind of logo for all posters or something, I have a version of the background illustration and then the USTA logo on it.
Saw that 2005 RG one a while back, looks okayyy I guess, doesn't matter too much about the poster, but I hate it when artists TRY to be like retro or art deco and symbolistic, minimalist--and just fuck it up.
Good effort though :)

Depends on what the quotation is. Anybody know? On the whole I think Alfonso should do the 2006 one.
BTW Alfonso, I caught Nadal's wristband after he beat Verdasco in Miami. It is sweat-soaked and smelly. Interested? Someone else caught his shirt. I think he was going to throw his capri pants too, but everyone ran out of range.

A lot of great painters do child-like paintings (on first sight), actually it's their style and that's art. I like it different from other usual sports-posters. Maybe the text is not very well done but the rest looks nice.
