The long AO road has begun again for Domino. Well, jole suggested that this would be a good win in his current form, he has it now so let's see what exploits he gets up to in conditions that he alone seems to relish.

What - he did it in less than 5?

I'm shocked!

I guess the TBs are supposed to make up for the lack of a 5th set. ;)

Awesome 4 set "demolition" by Dom's standards

LOL At the thread  Is it just me who doesn't think this match deserves a thread of it's own :tape: Are there any fans of either player?

Please don't tell me every grand slam result gets a thread on this site?

I like starting result threads in the early rounds of Slams, at least it draws people's attention to players they might otherwise have overlooked. People have been good enough to start result threads for Schalken's matches in the past, I might as well repay the compliment.

Sjeng Schalken is a unique character and game I feel (who would deserve some attention), but these two players? Just two painfully boring players.

I guess I have a lot to learn, I might start a few similar ones if people are interested in them.

Knock yourself out. To be honest Domino and the Sjengman are very similar players, solid professionals with consistent games who have arguably made the most out of their limited talent. I prefer Schalken's style, especially on the backhand, but Hrbaty is certainly the more dangerous player when he's on, as evidenced by healthy records against both Federer and Agassi. He's also the only man besides Federer to have handed a defeat to Nadal in a tournament final.

I have had the delight to meet both, and I can certainly say who is the superior character out of the two. Sjeng's strokes also add a bit flavour to him. Of course similar games, but such a difference in their stroke production.

Hrbaty never got defaulted mid-match though, as Schalken did back in 2004. ;) An uncharacteristic moment for sure, but nevertheless a regrettable one.
