In non-AO news... Donald Young Wins! Or Not!

I know everyone was probably either 1) qualifying for AO 2) entered in the main draw or 3) out with injuries but hey, everyone had to start somewhere...

Apparently, the AP got too excited and reported an incorrect result.
Lammer beat Young 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 in the US Futures Tournament on Sunday.

The score they reported was (possibly) from Young's QF match against Nikita KRYVONOS (USA) were he won 6-4. He beat Conor NILAND (IRL) 6-1, 6-2 in the Semis.

Congrats to Lammer and Donald!

Donald Young won his first pro singles title at the Grand Slam Futures event, beating Michael Lammer of Switzerland 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday.

Young, ranked 491st in the world, earned 12 ATP ranking points and $1,300.

The 17-year-old from Atlanta defended his USTA Boys 18 Junior Championship title last year. In 2005, Young became the first American since Andy Roddick to win the Australian Open boys singles title and be ranked No. 1 in the year-end ITF World Junior rankings.

He's still 0-10 in ATP events. :wavey:

Like I said, Everyone has to start somewhere. Damn the haterade on this board is too funny. Give a player who is has been down on his luck a break. Gesh.

The hating is only towards American players. It's generally because most other Nations are jealous of Americans and that will never change.

That's life...I sure hope Donald Young turns into something good.

He lost the final to Michael Lammer in 3 sets, according to the pdf draw at the ATP website. http://www.atptennis.com/en/common/TrackIt.asp?file=http://www.atptennis.com/1/posting/2007/614/mds.pdf

Let me think of all the irrational, unfair generalizations I can make about Croats. I'll get back to you.

Really? Name five who feel that way, and support your accusation with direct quotes from those five individuals.

You're the one who should be kidding if you really believe that. But carry on with your unwavering preconceived notions.
