Lurker, I can tell you that Sluiter isn't that great a player, he relies heavily on his serve to get him free points and hits double-handed on both sides, Gambill style rather than Santoro style; he has a flat hit, takes risks and goes for the lines, and when he's on it's devastating but when he's off he can choke horribly in pressure situations and miss by miles (e.g. the final set breaker against Ferrero in Rotterdam, where he shanked shots out of court whenever he had a matchpoint).

Ha, never mind Schuettler, Arthurs even broke a very sloppy Bjorkman - but ironically, is about to be broken back to love.

Break back gift-wrapped on double fault no. 4 from the Aussie... he's let a golden chance slip away.

But Ive been following him through the livescores of many tournaments since the end of last year and he doesnt seem to have a very big serve.

Not many aces.

I can assure you he does, he hit 22 in that big DC match where he beat Ferrero back in 2001. He depends on it, and you can see why he'll never be a great player because he just had to save a breakpoint after being up 40-0 on his serve.

He only had 8 aces in 5 sets against Ancic.

Anyway, if he has a great serve, then Coria will have serious problems.

I should clarify, it's not a very big serve, he'll never be in the Top 10 in aces but he can get into double figures when he's having a good serving day. I'm not sure he can give Coria such a good match, as I say the serve isn't huge enough to cause Coria problems on every service game and Sluiter has a low margin for error which will be severely tested by Coria's retrieving abilities.

Has he magically developed returns and groundstrokes during the last week?

He must be playing some decent tennis, even if Schuettler is low on confidence Arthurs must have executed his attacking style well during that match. As I said in the other scoring thread, Bjorkman's serving is little better than Arthurs' at the moment, more doubles than aces, he's getting complacent I reckon.

Sluiter's served five aces in about seven points, he certainly is depending on it.
