Grosjean vs SluiterSammy 03-16-2004, 12:05 AM I'm watching the scores via the Pacific Life Open live scoreboard at the moment. Score is currently 2-2. Seb 40 Sluiter 15 Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:06 AM Go Seb!!! 3-2 Sluiter serves Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:10 AM 3-3 Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:12 AM Go Seb! 4-3 Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:17 AM 4-4 Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:19 AM 5-4!!! Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:23 AM Grrrr...5-5 Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:25 AM Kom op Raemon, a break for 6-5 and he serves for the set! Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:28 AM Sluiter serves : 30-30! Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:30 AM Aaargh, tiebreak - win this Sluiter! Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:30 AM Yeah!!! 6-6 Hi Sjengster!! Looks like it's going to be a good match! Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:31 AM Oh yeah! Win it Grosjean!!!!! Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:34 AM He's on FIRE!!!! Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:35 AM 1-4... Sluiter's never been able to close out sets and matches properly, it's his big failing. The Bryans up 5-0 on Nieminen and Srichaphan in 12 minutes... hmm. TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:36 AM Sluiter please beat Grosjean! Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:36 AM 4-4 Sjengster! Don't give up on him yet! Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:37 AM Hi there Sammy, Lurker - ah, it's because you want a chance to see him on TV, right? Well they're improving, from 1-4 down he leads 5-4 with the minibreak. Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:38 AM Noooo! C'mon Seb. Second set's yours! TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:38 AM If you win, you will play against Coria. And I will finally discover you!! TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:39 AM Yes, he wins!! Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:40 AM Woo-hoo, six points in a row and a sixth ace en route to take the set 7-6 (4)! Lurker, I can tell you that Sluiter isn't that great a player, he relies heavily on his serve to get him free points and hits double-handed on both sides, Gambill style rather than Santoro style; he has a flat hit, takes risks and goes for the lines, and when he's on it's devastating but when he's off he can choke horribly in pressure situations and miss by miles (e.g. the final set breaker against Ferrero in Rotterdam, where he shanked shots out of court whenever he had a matchpoint). Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:41 AM Ha, never mind Schuettler, Arthurs even broke a very sloppy Bjorkman - but ironically, is about to be broken back to love. Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:42 AM Break back gift-wrapped on double fault no. 4 from the Aussie... he's let a golden chance slip away. TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:43 AM But Ive been following him through the livescores of many tournaments since the end of last year and he doesnt seem to have a very big serve. Not many aces. Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:44 AM I can assure you he does, he hit 22 in that big DC match where he beat Ferrero back in 2001. He depends on it, and you can see why he'll never be a great player because he just had to save a breakpoint after being up 40-0 on his serve. TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:48 AM He only had 8 aces in 5 sets against Ancic. Anyway, if he has a great serve, then Coria will have serious problems. Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:49 AM 1-1 RogiFan88 03-16-2004, 12:50 AM so how do grosgros/raemon merit their own thread, sjengst??!! hee hee... Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:50 AM I should clarify, it's not a very big serve, he'll never be in the Top 10 in aces but he can get into double figures when he's having a good serving day. I'm not sure he can give Coria such a good match, as I say the serve isn't huge enough to cause Coria problems on every service game and Sluiter has a low margin for error which will be severely tested by Coria's retrieving abilities. TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:51 AM Arthurs broker again?? What happened? Has he magically developed returns and groundstrokes during the last week? Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:52 AM He must be playing some decent tennis, even if Schuettler is low on confidence Arthurs must have executed his attacking style well during that match. As I said in the other scoring thread, Bjorkman's serving is little better than Arthurs' at the moment, more doubles than aces, he's getting complacent I reckon. Sammy 03-16-2004, 12:54 AM Sluiter leads 2-1 Grosjean serves. Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:55 AM Another double from Bjorkman, he's served 6 to just 2 aces. If Arthurs breaks here, he'll have broken serve three times in a set as opposed to the two times he managed it against Schuettler. Sluiter scraping out of trouble with about three aces on breakpoints in that last service game. TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:58 AM Sluiter please beat Grosjean!! TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 12:59 AM crap, the Juan ignacio chela interview is not complete. " Q. Did you purposely try and stay on the baseline and play from the baseline, because Hewitt is known as a good player who.." Anyway, it was probably going to be a stupid question. Sjengster 03-16-2004, 12:59 AM Sluiter's served five aces in about seven points, he certainly is depending on it. Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:01 AM And Grosjean just cannot seem to get his first serve out there! TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 01:02 AM break now!! Go Raemon! Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:05 AM Game Grosjean!! phew. yes!! 3-3. Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:07 AM Go Sebastien!! 4-3! Seb serves!!! Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:23 AM Set point Grosjean!!!!!!!!1 Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:25 AM Grosjean wins 6-4. Third set : Sluiter serving. TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 01:25 AM To the third set... TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 01:32 AM Break Now Raemon! TennisLurker 03-16-2004, 01:38 AM crap! Grosjean Broke!!! Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:38 AM *sigh* Grosjean broke and now leads 2-1. And he's serving too! Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:42 AM Grosjean's first serve has been quite sheeeaattty today. Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:42 AM But nevertheless, he is winning 3-1. Sammy 03-16-2004, 01:51 AM 4-2!
