6/4 7/5 for Marcos. I'd say it was a good match, considering it's a return to competition. Marcos has absolutely to improve his serve, because he almost had no 1st serve, and even when he was successfull, it wasn't efficient enough.
The 1st set has been full of breakpoints opportunities for Kohlschreiber (6) that he's been unable to convert. Marcos has had only 1, which was the set point that he converted.
In the 2nd set, Kohlschreiber, frustrated after that 1st set, played really good tennis, and Marcos lost a bit of concentration. Hence the break for the German. Marcos kept on fighting and finally broke back when Kohlschreiber was serving for the set, bringing it back to 5/5. That 11th game has lasted and lasted....with break opportunities for both, but finally, Marcos, who was encouraging himself a lot, won his serve game. I guess that's where Kohlschreiber lost grip on the match.
A win is a win. Good job Marcos. :)

Happy New Year!!!!!
I watched the match, I agree with you Choupi, the win counts though
01-01-2007, 01:42 PM
Guillaume Peyre took a lot of notes. I suppose Marcos will hear about all this, concerning his serve. His 2nd serve was upsetting K. more than his 1st!!
01-01-2007, 02:49 PM
Next opponent, Ruben Ramirez-Hidalgo.
01-01-2007, 02:50 PM
Good opponent for him in the 2nd round and there are some pics of his 1st round match in the Pic thread.
01-01-2007, 06:41 PM

Well, I didn't know where to put it exactly, so I'm gonna write it here. I've created my website about Marcos. It's all recent, and please be indulgent, as it is the very 1st time I run a website. It's still under construction, but I'd be glad to welcome those of you who are interested there. Here's the link:

Thanks Choupi for this forum about Marcos!
01-03-2007, 08:32 AM
Good prospects here for Marcos as Ramirez-Hidalgo hits a lot of balls back and that will give Marcos a good workout in getting into some more timing.
He usually plays well when he has had some matches in him and I will look forward to seeing him live very soon.
Good luck with the site Choupi.

Thanks guys. You're welcome. :)

I just found out Marcos is playing Soderling. I think Marcos should defeat him, but Soderling has already knocked out two of my favs :scared: I'm beginning not to like the guy :aplot: And I don't even know him
01-03-2007, 07:02 PM
Soderling will be very tough, hopefully Marcos can serve and return well!
01-03-2007, 07:44 PM
Well the head to Head is not too good as Soderling won their only previous meeting but I have faith in Marcos this time....
Pame Marcos.....go two better this time and win the title...
01-03-2007, 08:37 PM
Mikhail Youzhny vs. Ivan Ljubicic
Robin Soderling vs. Marcos Baghdatis
Andy Murray vs. Max Mirnyi
Nikolay Davydenko vs. Olivier Rochus
I have faith in the return. It worked pretty well today. But the serve, though better than in his previous match, still needs improvement. Allez Marcos!! You can do it!! :bounce:
01-03-2007, 09:27 PM
I'm sooo curious about Marcos' game tomorrow. I hope this easy win over RRH didn't make him "asleep" and he will perform even better against tough opponent. Best wishes and let's pray for our "sunny boy":)
01-04-2007, 04:54 AM
Bravo Marco for another win!
Now lets hope that today he will improve his first serve and do well
I am sure Marcos can win, but he need to be very carefull and have good
01-04-2007, 07:28 AM
Baghdatis toyed with Ramirez Hidalgo in a one-sided match with the Spaniard.
"It feels great to be in the quarter-finals of the first tournament of the new season," Baghdatis said.
"I'm moving very well and my serving is good. I'm really looking forward to the Australian Open later this month," added last year's Melbourne runner-up.
01-04-2007, 04:03 PM
Marcos lost 3/6 2/6.
01-04-2007, 04:08 PM
Couldn't do anything on Robin's serve...:o
Let's move on
01-04-2007, 05:38 PM
Marcos was the 3rd favorite player of mine that Soderling has taken out of this Tournament :ras: I'm beginning to take this personally :aplot:
Maybe I should become a fan of Soderling :rolls:
