Errr......I don't want to put a damper on all of the ethusiasm of this thread but let's not forget that Tommy is coming back from a severe injury which kept him out of the game for 15 months. A bad rotator cuff injury is not a good thing. A number of baseball pitchers have lost their careers as the result of rotator cuff injuries. Both Pat Rafter and my fave Goran's career were also greatly hindered by this injury. What i have read about his two previous matches suggests he is not serving at anything like full potency.

Tommy Haas seems a nice guy. He also had a great future ahead of him. I expect had he not had this injury he might very well have won 1 or 2 grand slams. Life has been very tough to Tommy with both this injury and his parents motorcycle accident. That he has gotten back to the form where he is playing again says a great deal for his character.

I think what I'm trying to say is that it probably makes sense to keep one's expectations regarding Tommy very low for the time being. If he can finish this year in the top 50 that would be an AMAZING achievement. Even if he finishes in the top 100 he will have done well. But to beat a player of Enqvist`s standard even with Tommy`s 6-2 record against him this early in his comeback might be asking for too much.

I`m a big Goran fan. And if Goran can make it back to Wimbledon and just play competively in the 1st round I will be pleased for him.

Having said all this I do hope that Tommy can rebuild his career and as he is still young there must be a good chance that he can. :)

I am so happy to have been wrong. I am surprised no one has called me an idiot which would have been perfectly justified. I don`t mind. What makes it even better is that Tommy won it with great serving stats. 9 aces and 83 percent of points won on the 1st serve. That is very encouraging for the future. Well done Tommy. :worship:

Costa will probably be a very tough test for Tommy... but the reward will be a possible match against Hewitt! :)
