Better Disney Movie: Lion King vs. Aladdin

Obviously the top 2 disney movies of all time. Lion king is more dark, and serious, and brings tears at times.

meanwhile, aladdin and the genie dont stop with the comedy, and its also a love story ;)

I have to say the Lion King, even though I think Aladdin is the hottest Disney dude. Mainly because the genie just really annoys me. And the Lion King has great songs :p

Yeah, well I liked the Invincibles, Aladin was Okay, but it was kinda boring, IMO. :ras:

The Lion King was awsome. :yeah:

Just because those movies are golden oldies dosent mean newer movies can't compete with them.

The opening to the Broadway show is awesome.. with all the animals and everything. :inlove: I just love the costumes. Ahhh it's a great show.

If you're going to mention all-time you have to include Toy Story (Disney/Pixar), but out of these you can look at it two ways.

LK series was more successful when you combined the sequels.

If you broke down both originals of LK and Aladdin, you'd still have to give the edge to LK but not by much.

Aladdin was released to the public in 1992 - 2 years BEFORE LK. Thus, setting the benchmark for animation films.

Aladdin gave us Robin Williams as we never saw before, an animated success.

Many of the cast members from Aladdin never amounted to anything else, so you're getting their best effort in any kind of movie.

Aladdin was a smooth 90 minutes long, so you could watch it at the top of the hour and still be right on time with the news when it completes.

Aladdin was certified in 18 different countries, so it hit home to a wide audience.

Aladdin won 2 Oscars. 20 more wins and 15 nominations.

LK was directed by Robert Minkoff whose creations also include two ROGER RABBIT classics and STUART LITTLE 1 & 2!

LK had an allstar cast including Goldberg, Earl Jones, Broderick, JTT (he was the hottest young actor back in the day), Atkinson (BEAN!), etc etc. I mean, if you look the whole cast up compared to Aladdin it's no contest!

LK was produced in four languages - English, Swahili, Xhosa, Zulu. You do the math. Which movie will more people understand?

LK was released in 19 countries. One better than Aladdin.

LK also won 2 Oscars. 22 wins in 22 nominations. Earth shattering!

LK had the better selling CD and everyone knows the Theme Song. Circle of Life - Enough said.

Most importantly, my neighbors would say Akuna Matata until it ran dry, so you know it packed the catch phrases.

I love them both, tough call

I'm going for Aladdin, because Princess Jasmine was hot. And The Lion King made me cry

Simba was ridiculously cute though, my next cat will be called Simba :p

Both were good movies.

But I'd have to give the nod to the Lion King for its emotional content.

For me the Lion King, hands down. I have a soft spot for almost all the Disney movies but the Lion King is my ultimate favorite. It has the perfect villain, Jeremy Irons as Scar was brilliant and I looove Simba. It also makes me cry every single time I watch the damn movie. I'm such a drama queen sometimes...

I said it another thread, the Lion King is the best Disney movie of all time. (closely followed by Beauty and the Beast) It had JTT who, as someone posted above, was every little girls dream. Also, when Mufasa falls off the edge to his death, and poor Simba when he's like "dad...dad...wake up" and rests underneaths Mufasa's paw. I just sad just thinking about it. It never fails to bring me to tears.

Both were quality, but the songs in Aladdin were amazing.

Scar was an awesome villain, but so was Jafar. As for the heroes, Aladin and Jasmin are far more likeable than Simba though Rafiki was excellent :haha:

I vote Aladdin :p

Lion King

I prefer Beauty and the Beast to both though :p

No-one can ever beat Gaston :worship:

I like them both, but I have to go for the Lion King :yeah: I love how they used some things from real African culture in it :D

(Lilo and Stitch, don't worry, you're still my favourites  )
