this tournament is like a second home for him.

I'd like to see Gasquet, and after him, Berdych or Marat win Paris. I'm adding Gonzo to my list. After playing so well this season, he deserves a big win.

Marat Safin. :D It's my duty to say it here. :D

I would LOVE it if Marat could win it:D Usually he's able to find his best game there:yeah: Gasquet, Berdych, Ancic and Gonzalez are also strong contenders:)

Most open TMS tourney since Hamburg. Safin looks good, Berdych could make a repeat, then you have Davydenko who failed to do well at most of the TMSs this year, Gonzalez who just lost three finals in a row, the young guns like Djokovic, Murray and Gasquet, and a couple of indoor idiots like Söderling.

I vote Djokovic :) Nadal's withdrawal got Soderling out of his way and now Federer is out of his way as well. He always has great results in France. ;) It's a dream, but it's not out of the question.

Marat, without any duties ;) or maybe Ancic.

Marat I hope.

But I think Murray will, Brad Gilbert is an opportunist and will see this as a golden opportunity for Murray to exploit his reasonable draw and get a T.M.S under his belt.

RonE
10-30-2006, 01:17 PM
Berdych or Safin- I voted for Berdych but since this is an even numbered year and everyone is saying this is Marat's year ( :p ) to win Paris it could also be him.

It's just a shame they are both on the same side of the draw and can't play each other in the final :(

My guess, final will be:
Davydenko(25% Gonzo will be here instead) versus Blake(40% chance Gasquet will be here instead).

Even though I would not pick davydenko to beat either of those, I have to pick him regardless because of the stats of the whole affair.

Interesting tournament without any of the top 5 players - it's anyone's really at this stage, though granted the bottom half is full of potential victors who'll have to battle it out between them.

Either Berdych/Murray IMO, unless Safin makes the massive breakthrough everyone's been waiting for.

Safin would be the favourite if not for a horrible draw. Same for Soderling and Gasquet who comes out in addition from a long week of tennis.

I'll go with Ancic.

Isn't there some law somewhere that states that the consensus opinion at the MTF is always wrong? *looks back at poll* :DYes, there's also a law like that, particularly when it comes to Safin. He was the clear MTF favorite in all of his losses this fall, with phrases like "too easy for Marat," "routine win for Safin," (a what for whom? :cuckoo: )and the like. :banghead:

Well lets be honest. These polls always turn into popularity contests. Everybody votes for their favourite player, not the one they think will win.

NATAS81
11-04-2006, 06:26 PM
Regardless of how people perceive the poll, there wasn't anything at all mentioned about how Davydenko or Hrbaty had a shot at this thing and that deserves mentioning.

The media builds up the mega stars and people get caught behind when it comes to the other hard working athletes that support this tour.

Naranoc

Then why didn't anybody vote for Davydenko or even include Hrbaty on the poll?

Naranoc
11-04-2006, 06:41 PM
Because everyone was either hoping for the famed Safin ressurection, or still revelling in Berdych's classic win over in Madrid and hoping he defends his title. Aside for that, like someone said everyone voted for who they hoped would win instead of being realistic (and let's face it, neither Davydenko nor Hrbaty have many die-hard fans here)
