Sampras didn't return well enough and frankly didn't care all that much because his 6-4 sets would take only a little bit longer than a 6-1 set for most.

Who bageled Roger?

Roger last 0-6 was in june 1999 against Byron Black, so he hasn't been bagelled for a long time, that's maybe a record

Ahhhh....you have to go to the ITF site or go the ATP site and count them up there. If you use the ATP site, then you have to make sure that you count the Davis Cup bagels not including DC finals before 1982 I think. :)

I don't think many of the numbers are accurate. :)

It's an interesting stat and it seems to illustrate the difference in the playing philosophies of these two great players. Agassi played at high intensity from start to finish, regardless of the score. The most vivid example I can remember of this was when he played Hyung-Taik Lee in Australia in 2003. After Lee won the first game, Agassi won the next 18 (6-1, 6-0, 6-0)! It was clear that Lee posed no real threat to Agassi on that day, but Andre did not relent until the final score was called.

Sampras had so much faith in his ability to hold serve, he would conserve energy until he sensed an opportunity to break, and then he would pounce. It only took one break, and he would have the set. It was amazing how often he would pull out what appeared to be a tight set just by throwing in a few aggressive points on a return game.

It also shows the quality of Agassi's return, and it should be no surprise that Connors, anothe great returner, leads the list.

29-30...
One of the most interesting Gaudio's results comes from the last year's QF in Buenos Aires, where he defeated Nadal 0-6, 6-0, 6-1
The two most devastating sets in Nadal's career on clay.

Seeing Sampras' stats, including this one. Becomes painfully blatant what a joke his return game was.

Breaking serve 3 times in succession only 37 times in his career? Pathetic.

You may think so, but the reality is he didn't need to improve it. No one ever pressed him to change his game, neither serving nor returning.

Well, a lot of those are just joke titles by today's standards. Lendl's 94 titles are far more impressive.

only joking in 1977

Connors deserved to be 5-times YE NO.1, but not in 1977 :o (1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1982)

My point is that Lendl's 94 titles mainly consist of bigger titles than Jimbo's 105.

Connors was lack of European Red Clay titles, of course including Roland Garros . (But very balanced in Hardcourt, Indoor, Green Clay and Grass)

Lendl had only twice Queen's Club titles, beside these, he had not another Grass titles of course including Wimbledon. But he had many titles in Hardcourt, Indoor and Red Clay.

Lendl's 94 titles were slightly better than Connors' 105 (or 109).

Bagel records are not that important because in past times there was much more push-over oponents than today
