I like the Babolt Pure Control Standard. The Pure Drive (Roddick's racquet) is fun to hit hard, but I can't control it well enough for tournament play. It is also a very bad racquet for net play.

Head Intelligence Prestige L6. What I love about this racquet is that it forces you to really feel your shots- you cannot just swing at the ball without having good technique. It was difficult to master at the beginning but now I just cannot imagine myself playing with anything else.

Unfortunately this particular model has gone out of production

yeah, all companies do that :(

sometimes you feel very good with a racket despite it's an older version but you cant buy a new one when yours get old (or you brake them :D )

go to tenniswarehouse.com they have reviews and ratings - from groundstrokes, serves, volleys to overheads comfort and feel - on alot of the rackets by official reviewers as well as customers. that's how i found my liquid metal prestige. about three days of going back and forth comparing, then demoing them: all heads: liquid metal radical, prestige and flexpoint radical and prestige.

i stuck with the prestige but im paranoid that my strings are gonna pop and i cant find another one. for that reason thinking of switching to the radical cuz i can buy as many sticks as i want.

i tried a couple of times the Liquidmetal but I sensed that you have to be very precise with it. if you dont hit with the sweet spot you have a tough time controlling the ball.

is it really like that or maybe it was a string problem for me?

i love my liquid metal prestige. its a bit light which made me want to put some lead tape at the tip but my fh swing is late enough as it is.

my other rackets have been:

prince turbo shark OS. recommended by tennis magazine's editors. it's a good beginner racket but its way too light and way too powerful.

yonex ti-80 way back in high school. same as the prince but a little heavier which means more shock protection.

head radical - god this is like from 94 or something. heavy with a small face, kinda reminds me of the wilson nsix one tour :)

Pretty good ratings on Tennis Warehouse. Took a long long time to get used to. But gives me perfect control but not much power. Great doubles stick even though i play singles nowadays.

Tried LiquidMetal Radical and i can't seem to like it. Missing too much of the control i'm used to and can't get too much spin on the ball due to the super closed string pattern. But high balls i can blast away at will. Also just not good enough on the volleys for me.

Before i used the Prince Triple Threat Graphites until some douche stole one of them. But idiots on the team laughed at me cause you can get that racket in stores for like 40 bucks nowadays. They don't' realize that its the same racket Ferrero and Coria used at their peaks cause all they know is Federer Nadal Federer Nadal Roddick.

Yonex RDX 500, the other 2 yonex users what do you use?

I use Rdx001 MidPlus and for me it is perfect, I have used RDX 500 Midplus and Roddick's Babolat, but Babolat is hard to control and is awfull at net and you can't play good defense with this, Rdx001 is a little better than RDX 500 for me , it's all-round racquet and I find easy to play ofensive and defensive , you could hit hard and have good control, it's untrue that you don't get enough pop maybe with Hewitt racquet beacuse it is not as good , MidPlus are much better for. I have demoed many racquets but Yonex is great and qulaity is huge.

Hokit
10-27-2006, 09:13 AM
I use the Yonex Ultimum RQ Ti 250 - it's supposed to be a "power" racquet :tape: It's OK, but the strings need to be loose (not too loose) otherwise it's hard to hit a good flat shot. If the strings are too tight, the hard pop you expect to hear isn't there, and if the strings are too loose, you hardly hear the pop and the error count is impossible to control.

I like the Dunlops - the one Maurasemo (sp?) uses looks like its got good control. I might get one, but I've used Dunlops before for so long I'm almost sick of the brand.

What Yonex racquets are good for control and a bit of power?

The END Pr is a very old Japanese made racket. It has same shape and style of play as the Wilson N-Code, but it's made out of almost pure wood (so it has a little bend in it). The Borons are also Japanese made, and they hit like a really heavy N-Code, and so does the Spalding. Spalding is made in the U.S., but this was a while back (as Spalding doesn't make rackets anymore). Um, all rackets have been handed down from my parents as they were tennis players. I know my mom got the Kawasakis when she went to Japan, and my dad used the Spalding when he played. I've bought many new rackets, but since these all hit about the same as a N-Code (the 90 inch), I decided to stick with them.

Nice! i also have my parent's rackets(altho they just play for fun). I have an old Wilson(late 70s/early80s, not wooden) and a Fin(newer than d wilson, this manufacture discontinued in early 90s i think). Sort of led me to playing tennis, i used the Fin racket in high sch. Now they're just for collection.

Been playing with the Wilson KBlade 98 for the past 6 weeks.

Cost a fair bit, but so far worth every penny. Relatively lightweight so good for reaction volleying which is useful since I play mostly doubles, but still heavy enough to give pop to the serve and groundstokes.

Also, picked up a Head Liquidmetal Radical for a bargain price. Had a few hits with it and it's solid but pales in comparison to the KBlade, although the spec is similar.

Due to one of my idols Pistol Pete, I have been using Wilson for my whole life!

Played with Head my whole life. Now use the Prestige line. Had the LiqMetal and upgraded to the Flex Point. Love it so much haven't tried the MGM. Always use the mids, 93Sq In.
Can't play with anything larger. Been planning on demo'ing the K-Six as it's 3 inches less. Really like a stiffer feel in a racquet.
