On the last point of his service game maybe he hit the ball and on the split step he rolled his ankle ir damaged himself in some way, the shot of the opponent went out so he won the game but he cannot play on. That's just one possibility. alfonsojose 10-25-2006, 06:38 PM 1. Bet slave :tape: 2. He making TMC is almost sure, so  3. His body told him again "Respect me, moron" Saumon 10-25-2006, 06:39 PM he rolled his ankle in the 1st set :( frenchie 10-25-2006, 06:40 PM Davydenko often retires after being up a set!!! ljubicic_ 10-25-2006, 06:43 PM if now Mario stil cannot make it to the final and win it..than he really should retire! Exodus 10-25-2006, 06:59 PM Davydenko often retires after being up a set!!! why couldn't he retire in the moscow final against safin  Voo de Mar 10-25-2006, 07:00 PM why couldn't he retire in the moscow final against safin   MariaV 10-25-2006, 07:03 PM LOL you guys, Kolya sprained his ankle at 5-2 in the 1st set. he got it taped but obviously didn't feel OK, he limped and after holding his serve yes quite comfortably decided to retire. He couldn't get treatment on it for the 2nd time as you know. Hopefully it's not too serious and the ankle will be OK really soon. alelysafina 10-25-2006, 07:22 PM Thanks Maria V :) musefanatic 10-25-2006, 07:27 PM Shame for Koyla, hope he gets better soon :) canbera 10-25-2006, 08:05 PM if now Mario stil cannot make it to the final and win it..than he really should retire! now that you mention it - Tommy Haas has pretty good chances in my opinion. He just needs to win against an in-form Igor Kunitsyn and the way is ( almost ) free to the Final. MariaV 10-25-2006, 08:15 PM if now Mario stil cannot make it to the final and win it..than he really should retire! Awww you and Raver. It's a good chance for Mario indeed. :D Scotso 10-25-2006, 08:24 PM Nikolay  get well quickly. R.Federer 10-25-2006, 08:46 PM In the past, kolya retirements especially when leading have sparked some problems in the betting markets Yappa 10-25-2006, 08:53 PM now that you mention it - Tommy Haas has pretty good chances in my opinion. He just needs to win against an in-form Igor Kunitsyn and the way is ( almost ) free to the Final. Haas should take that opportunity. Nieminen, possible quarter final opponent, had to retire against Starace. Ancic next? ;) Leo 10-25-2006, 09:46 PM This could open up the draw for Youzhny if he doesn't blow it. He should be able to beat Johansson and Moodie in St. Petersburg. Jaap 10-25-2006, 10:01 PM Davydenko retired because Russian Mafia told him to. Corrupt bastard is Davydenko. Along with a couple of Spaniards(RRH) and Argies( Arguello, Gaudio) he is the most corrupt player on tour. Time the ATP done something about it.
