Oh my God, he's done it again. Gaudio led 5-3 in the opening set against Squillari, now he's 7-6, 1-0 down. To paraphrase a well-known cinematic phrase, what is his major malfunction?

02-25-2004, 09:47 PM
he lost

Thanks very much... according to the stats, Gasquet has 42% first serves in but is winning 82% of points behind his first serve. Guga is winning 96% of points on his first serve. Is that normal on clay? Plus Gasquet doesn't have the greatest serve in the world, no aces and no doubles suggests he's rolling it in...

02-25-2004, 11:28 PM
1-0 Guga in the second set, 30-30 on Gasquet's serve.. come on Gugs GO:)!

02-25-2004, 11:40 PM
4-1 now... and apparently Gasquet has had a medical time out. The more things change...

02-25-2004, 11:44 PM
Guga serves for the match, leading 5-1!

cmon gugz GO!!!:)!

02-25-2004, 11:47 PM
oh no Guga got broken:(!
Guga what are you doing! Finish this match, GO!

02-25-2004, 11:49 PM
Guga will serve again for the match at 5-3... COME ON GUGZ!!!!!!! GOOOOOO:)!!!!!

02-25-2004, 11:51 PM
GUGZ! 15-40! What are you doing! Save those bps! GO GUGZ!

02-25-2004, 11:54 PM
Ah well, Guga made it more interesting towards the end by almost letting Gasquet back in, but he held for the victory: 7-6, 6-3.

02-25-2004, 11:58 PM
UFFFFFFF Guga saved them all and won 7-6(3), 6-3! I was terribly nervous at the end, but Guga did it:)!

Here are the stats:
Guga Gasquet
aces 4 0
DFs 4 2
1st serve % 58 49
1st serve pts won % 92 70 :)
2nd serve pts won % 55 57
Winners 20 14
Net pts won 9/10 5/8
Break pts conversion 2/3 1/4
UFES 25 30

Guga was nervous at the end I guess, but he controlled his nerves and succeeded to serve the match saving 2 bps! Good fight for Gasquet, who was tired I guess after last week...
Congrats to both players!

Well done Guga:D, now continue! GO against Squillari!!!

02-26-2004, 01:31 AM
Hey guys, I'm new here!! I'm going to watch Guga tomorrow (I'm from Brazil and live very close to Costa do Sauípe, so I can't miss the chance to see GUGA playing!!!!). He really made me have a heart attack in his first game at Brazil Open. This second one was easier, though in the end I thought he would miss that second chance to win the match.

I'm a huge GUGA fan and I also think I'm going to have a great time in this forum :) Let's hope tomorrow he will win also (I will be there screaming GO GUGA [In portuguese, of course] all the time huahuahuhuahua)

Ok Guga, until tomorrow when you make your next victim Squillari.... squirl!!!

Vai Guga!

By the way, welcome to the board Rui...te amo Brasil!!

Brasil=legal :)
