Hey, i can tend to be an angry wreck on the court sometimes and when it comes to big points i usually lose. I really want to start trying to settle down and get my mental game into gear. Any tips on beating it?

well wanting to change is step one....

and hang around at a tourny and find the biggest hot head out on court and laugh at ridiculous they look and sound and then next time you are on court imagine what you look like, pride is a powerful motivator.

and remember that you are there for fun, smile, hard to be angry when you're smiling :yeah:

Don't think, "this is a big point and I have to win." Just play it like any other point. As for getting angry...get over it.

Emotions are good....its shows you care and want to do well!

Its when these emotions get the better of us it becomes a
problem. These intense feelings can spill over and affect the
next point.

Some players are emotionless when they play (me!) and don`t
really react to much. The other extreme is losing their temper

What you must realise is while it is good to not bottle up your must be channeled into something productive.

one...think of a single word you can shout when you feel angry....
the funnier the better....I had a player who liked to
shout `SCHWEPPES!`.....why that word I don`t know but the
outbursts released the tension built up inside and as his coach I knew it
was him getting it out of his system. what the pros do.....turn your back to the court and
adjust your strings....say to yourself `and relax`......

three....loosen up your arms and legs, then just move on to next
point and plan for next point.

With any mental skills trainging the results become apparent when
these techniques are used all the time. When it becomes a part of your
routine you will really see a difference in your ability to loose the anger....
relax....then move on!

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the tips. I know it's going to be hard to change and any little bit helps. Thanks.
