it is a very hard draw, if you look for the players in the qualy, there are a lot of dangerous players like mardy fish, mathieu, youzhny, benneteau, mirnyi and some others, also having local players on his side is not good.
on the other side, if he plays a good tournament he could get a good advantage over his opponents, if you see, robredo, ancic and baghdatis have a hard draw and they could lose fast, but he could only get advantage of this if he makes a good tournament.

And a better question where is David's mind? He just lost the first set in a tie break to Benneteau. Wake up and play the way we know you can. Anyone actually see the match - What's up with him? :banghead: :banghead:

He may have won the 2nd set, but it is hard to tell in the Tournament Scoring Thread because they are mostly concerned with Marat.

he won at the end, but i hope he will raise his game for his match against henman 'cause i saw him against ferrer and he was playing really well (great volley).
Well even if h2h are in david's favour (seems like henman's game is not a problem for david), whatever, congrat and VAMOS DAVID !!!

Un-be-f******-lieveable!!!!!
How on earth did he pull this one out? He just loves to play these super long matches.
When you're in a slump like Nalbo is currently a win like that can do wonders for his confidence. At least that's what I'm hoping.

 I'm glad I wasn't awake for this one. Up next is Henman, who I wasn't that impressed with against Ferrer, though he was excellent in the first set, but it was hard to tell, since neither of them seemed to be able to play well at the same time. This should be an interesting matchup anyway. I'm excited about this one. I was hoping for this match when I saw the draw.

I hope this helps with David's confidence also. It reminds me of the match he had with Goldstein early this year in one of the MS and he ended up making the semi-finals, though he wasn't in that much of a slump back then.

David's mind: "Why finish this guy off in straight sets when I can waste time and play to 7-5 in the 3rd? Actually, im just gonna let him get to 2-5, then i'll decide to play again. O look! I win again. Whos next? Henman? eh, hes a nice guy, i think i'll tank it. hes pretty old, he doesnt have that much time left "

Definitely. A good week in Madrid and Basel, one of his favourite tournaments, should do it. After the first half of the year I kind of expected him to qualify for the Masters with a bit more ease, but at least he's ahead of those around him now.

Another tense and great win. IMO Safin for most of the first 2 sets was well below par and if Nalbo was a bit stronger he probably would've won in straights. But we all know Nalbo loves a scrap. With his record in big matches I felt he was gonna lose it in the third, but he somehow pulled it out.

Hi guys!!! I haven't been here in ages!
I got to see the first two sets of David's match against Marat, and I couldn't believe he actually won it! I thought it was all over after being broken while serving for match in the second set...but he did it.
I'll be able to watch a part of the Federer match today...and then go to work again...I have sunday off, so hopefully I won't get to see a Federer/Gonzalez final, if you know what I mean ;)
Big hugs to everyone! I really miss you

David plays very good. He is a very good player and he is actually in good form. During the quaterfinal he gave him and his fans a scare, but he won and this is most important. I regret Marat a bit, because he was excellent too, but unfortunately, only one can win.

OUCH! Nalbo got a real beating today. The power of the blog wasn't enough against Fed. All those long matches finally taking their toll. Anyway its been a good week for him with him moving from 8th to 6th in the race.
Good luck in Basel.

I expected a result like this. David must have been exhausted. But it was overall a good week. He hadn't won 3 matches on a row since Roland Garros. Let's hope he'll do fine in Basel.

Gosh, I knew about that, but it's still so hard to read.

Anyway, was a bad match from David but I was expecting something like that. So I'm not really surprised. Was a good week though, he made the points, so let's just move on to Basel. Good luck there. :)

That bagel is still making me itch though, lol.

Well... I'm glad he's progressed in the race, but at the same time I feel nothing really positive about his game. Long exhausting matches against mid-ranked players, and a bagel when it comes to Federer. Roger of course is admirable - an example of amazing self-improvement and dedication to tennis. But 0-6 means David is nowhere near right now.
I hope an awakening of David's self-esteem, maybe he becomes motivated again now when Federer is leading him in their h2hs.
Next week in Basel will show where he is mentally. Work, David, work.

in my oppinion he ran out of gas today, he had won some good matches, henman and safin are in good level now, they are not in an amazing level, but they are not playng bad at all, and this week was extremelly hard for him, three matches, 9 sets, he felt that today and had nothing left to do an effort, and federer didnt give him chances.
a good week, lets hoipe he could continue improving his tennis, he usually does it when plays consecutive weeks, he finds his rythim and that is good for him.

the first set was not so bad, but he sure didn't play at his best today. My brother and I were quiet disapointed of the bagel but he was tired i guess.
One of the french commentator said david looked like a guy who played during 3hours and fed like a guy who just entered the court. I think that was quiet true since fed didn't play a lot on his way to the SF, but it was not the case for david.
But that was a good week and a good run, and i think he has secured his place for the master and that's a good thing :) I actually just hope he won't get injured at this point of the season and he will be fit to play the Master ;)

To finish, even if he lost today, i'm proud to be one of his fans, and i'm so happy to see him playing, on the TV !! I didn't watch one of his match since cinci or toronto i can't remember, i don't know for you, but here is france we have to wait he reaches QF of SF at least to watch him, even at RG... poor of us ;)

VAMOS DAVID !!!!

After watching the way Roger destroyed Gonzalez today, I wouldn't be so harsh. Buti it's clear that he is not playing as well as he did during the first half of the year.
