I mean really... [15] DJOKOVIC, Novak vs Bye NIEMINEN, Jarkko vs GASQUET, Richard MURRAY, Andy vs Q Bye vs [3] LJUBICIC, Ivan Novak, Gasquet, Murray... and then we always have Ljubicic to look forward to. Tough section for sure, but it's his chance to really prove himself against the rest of his generation. Of course if he plays Nieminen, that will be interesting as well. Joe, I don't think I'm completely out of line to say... the draw sucks! PennyThePenguin 10-15-2006, 02:57 PM urgh..this draw sucks for all my faves :ras: Novak Dj 10-15-2006, 03:39 PM Worst possible draw, but good luck Nole. :wavey: Anne-Claire 10-15-2006, 04:47 PM Buena Suerte Nole ;) uglyamerican 10-15-2006, 05:05 PM THE DRAW: In Novak's section did they decided to just put every good young player in there? This is why I like masters series events, no free matches, all the good players . I think it's really time for Novak to make his mark at masters events and it could be here ezekiel 10-16-2006, 02:30 AM :help: :help: Looking on the bright side, if (a very big if) Richard beats Nieminen, we'll be able to watch Nole's match against him on TV since the organisers will probably put it on Centre Court. It's tough but I admit I wanted him to meet Gasquet and then hopefully Murray. Really exciting for future guns Scotso 10-16-2006, 03:30 AM unlike top tier women's events, in mens' masters series events there really aren't easy draws for anyone. good luck Nole :D and don't worry about him playing Richie... he'll face Jarkko :p adynadal 10-16-2006, 09:16 PM [15] DJOKOVIC, Novak vs Bye NIEMINEN, Jarkko vs GASQUET, Richard MURRAY, Andy vs Q Bye vs [3] LJUBICIC, Ivan dear lord!!!what a horrible draw!!!if Nole had to struggle it could be better just to send him play against Fedex and this to be the end probably but now with that draw i think that everyone will be scared for themselves and so good players will lose so soon!but that`s Nole`s golden chance to show everyone who is the biggest rising star in nowadays tennis!!!AJDE NOOOOOOOOLE!!! Grofica 10-16-2006, 11:11 PM I am not happy for Novak, but I am hoping I will watch Novak vs. Gasquet then Novak vs.Murray and then Novak vs.Ljubicic and then.........I can really think that far in the future;) ;) Danika 10-16-2006, 11:42 PM Good luck Nole. But I really do hate this draw too!I love Nole of course but then I love Richard and Andy too!!This SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good time to join the match. If I would have been following the whole thing it might have been too tense. I didn't even realize they were playing until 5-5 because I had Murray on TV and was peeling potatoes. :rolls: I was a little tense during the second set, but the third set was glorious :D Anne-Claire 10-18-2006, 05:25 PM Cestitam Nole :yippee: uglyamerican 10-18-2006, 05:33 PM Novak should be seeded for Bercy now. savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 05:40 PM Novak should be seeded for Bercy now. :bounce: :bounce: savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 05:41 PM Yo stat-guru, question based of Just Cause in GM... Roughly what kind of results does Nole need to get him enough points to be in TMC contention.. like.. is it even remotely realistic? Not really. At the start of this week he was 660 points (entry points) behind 8th place. savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 05:47 PM Not really. At the start of this week he was 660 points (entry points) behind 8th place. I didn't really think so :) Thanks. savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 06:16 PM I keep watching that clip from during the World Cup today because for some reason I wanted to see it since Nole and Andy are together in it and it makes me laugh :)  savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 07:51 PM It must be tough being the fan of a player hyped to be the next coming of Federer. Some of the Gasquet fans are acting like this is some awful loss that he should be ashamed of and that he'll never win again. Richie is a good player but Novak was higher ranked than him and has won an indoor title this year. It's not an awful loss for Gasquet, and the guy's career is going to be just fine. That kind of stuff makes me glad Novak never got that hype Gasquet did. Scotso 10-18-2006, 08:13 PM Well he finished off one pretender to his throne, time to knock off the other one :bounce: savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 08:23 PM Scott who's the hottie in the avatar? :p uglyamerican 10-18-2006, 08:25 PM It's not an awful loss for Gasquet, and the guy's career is going to be just fine. That kind of stuff makes me glad Novak never got that hype Gasquet did. You can't be a tennis fan if you get so upset about losses. Almost every player will lose 10+ times a year. Scotso 10-18-2006, 08:39 PM It's Julien Hedquist.... 50% French, 50% Swedish.... 100% Sex GOD. uglyamerican 10-18-2006, 09:04 PM I hope they don't make Nole play doubles at midnight, and singles at noon tomorrow. savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 09:13 PM Ugh I forgot about his doubles completely. uglyamerican 10-18-2006, 09:16 PM What's it--quarter after 11pm? savesthedizzle 10-18-2006, 09:21 PM What's it--quarter after 11pm? Yup. Nole should just drop doubles in Madrid. Icky scheduling to have his first round doubles last on the third day. He has a big match tomorrow and should he win, he'll have a big match the next day, and the next day. I mean, at the very least he should tank this. (Sorry I accidentally edited your post instead of quote... the buttons are there for me on every post now.. I need to get used to this still. :tape: ) uglyamerican 10-18-2006, 10:06 PM Novak's on for the late, late match tomorrow. So he might still play doubles tonight. Scotso 10-19-2006, 01:10 AM He lost the doubles. savesthedizzle 10-19-2006, 01:16 AM Why did I not see it on the results page? When did it end? The scoreboard stopped working and said no matches were in play? What was the score? And Scott, that's a GOOD thing. They started it so late, we want our Novakito rested, no? That's so weird because right around when it was exactly 1 am Madrid time the scoreboard stopped working for me, so I just assumed the postponed it or something until tomorrow. A drop shot looks to be a winner but Djokovic races into put it into the empty half of the court for Advantage. After a long rally, Murray nets to give Djokovic a clear lead. Scotso 10-19-2006, 10:35 PM He's beaten Gonzo before and will do it again. :D Magenta 10-19-2006, 10:40 PM It annoys me slightly that they are labelling it as a choke job on behalf of Murray. Perhaps Murray did choke but the fact that Djokovic didn't fall apart surley warrants some credit? The way I see it is Djokovic isn't brilliant, hes got a great serve, forehand etc but Murray at his best is probably a little better. However the fact that Djokovic is very strong mentally at a younger age should benefit him further and allow his career to develop at a faster rate. I remember Safin was always streaky and that remained with him throughout his career, the fact that Djokovic has matured at this pace mentally gives him a comparative advantage over the others. uglyamerican 10-19-2006, 10:44 PM It's hard to compare Murray and Nole, and guess who will have the better career. They're so different in so many ways. Magenta 10-19-2006, 10:46 PM No, no. I wasn't trying to do that at all! I think they'll both have great careers I guess I was just trying to say..well, what I said before. Mental toughness should pull him through to that number 1 position ;) Magenta 10-19-2006, 10:50 PM Are there any pictures of the match yet? I think they'll both have great careers I guess I was just trying to say..well, what I said before. Mental toughness should pull him through to that number 1 position ;) Also, who the other top players will be, and what styles they play will have a major impact, cuz Nole and Murray match up better against different types. To a degree. :silly: If I'm not making sense, it's my fault. uglyamerican 10-19-2006, 10:52 PM go to gettyimages .com then click on Editorial, then sports, and they're right there. Perhaps Murray did choke but the fact that Djokovic didn't fall apart surley warrants some credit? The way I see it is Djokovic isn't brilliant, hes got a great serve, forehand etc but Murray at his best is probably a little better. I remember Safin was always streaky and that remained with him throughout his career, the fact that Djokovic has matured at this pace mentally gives him a comparative advantage over the others. Andy was simply getting every ball back and changing pace for most of the 2 sets, commiting almost no errors while Novak was pushing it and often missing just barely. I thought Novak was in control of the points but was getting outplayed by clever tactics. I think Andy is a prime example of a counter puncher with excellent versatility and he's got a very nice backhand but I think he lacks that final shot to end the point, to take initiative. Thus his game is very taxing on the body and obviously he can't handle it yet. Novak is very different type of game and can't compare to Andy. He is much more aggresive and his forehand is a finnishing shot that can end any point. But as we saw today it can make him impatient when he is too aggressive like in the beginning but afterwards he was playing in much better control ezekiel 10-20-2006, 03:25 AM that and the fact he really believes he can be number one :D that's why roger said he's a joke, because he fears him! :bounce: I think Brad Gilbert will believe it soon enough .
