Acasuso vs. Roddick: How many breaks of serve will there be and who will win ?

This is a first round match in Vienna and both of them will be playing in their first indoor event of this campaign and both are coming off playing on clay, where surprisingly Roddick lost.

As for who will win, well the Duck probably will, but since these guys aren't known for their returning skills. How many breaks of serve will there be?

Roddick will win very easily, he will break many Acasuso's services.

Chucho doesn't play well at all indoors.

Roddick will show the clean  Argie how to play tennis.

Vienna's court is quite slow and surely is one of the slowest indoors courts at tour , it's a kind of wooden surface . So breaks are easier than at other tournaments

If it was wood it would be quicker. It's not a very fast court usually.

You mean teach him how to serve? Don't think Roddick is like Federer, Nalbandian or Santoro, he gives the lesson with brawn and not finesse.

Taken from the 2005-06 tournament fact sheet :

Surface : OPTICOURT ( similar to greenset on wood )

Vienna's court is quite slow as everybody could see the last year

What they play in Minsk for Davis Cup are wooden boards with a thin layer of carpet on it. It's an indoor hardcourt and opticourt is just the makers of the surface.

When in my initial message I've said breaks are easier and the court is quite slow I wasn't linking the wooden sufrace to the fact of being a slow court . The comment on the wooden surface was just an additional datum, nothing else.

Vienna has never been really quick surface wise, but there isn't going to be much quality returning in this match.

My comment is as simple as Vienna is one of the slowest hard indoor courts at circuit.

He's been with Connors for a few weeks. Let's see if anything's changed. I remember Connors talking about improving Roddick's return of serve, among other things.

Andy should win this and hopefully the practice with Jimbo will be beneficial.

Andy has been working with Jimmy this past week, allegedly specifically on his return, but he's not even arriving to Vienna til Monday

The tourney site said it was a new surface this year?

"Tommy Haas have already become familiar with the new Opti-Court." "Marach feels that the playing surface is "fair", as it will not only benefit the strong servers, but also suit rallies."

So it may not play the same as it has in the past? Dunno. whatever.

Andy should win this, something like 7-6, 6-4, but I am not sure that he cares about this tournament.

I believe Andy beat him 6-3 6-0 in IW this year when he was in his slump, so I don't think this match will be much of a struggle. ;)

I expect it will be closer this time, but Acasuso will be unable to break the Roddick serve.

Ljubo and LaLo have been the last 2 winners of this event, it's not like they are piss poor servers. A good server will always have an advantage indoors, as for being a new surface, it's been used before in Austria and in Switzerland for Davis Cup ties.

Haas has won this event before, it's not like Vienna has ever been known to have been very fast and as for Roddick this is just a warm up for next week.

shocking to hear that from you, of all people

I'd say Roddick with 1-3 breaks. Acasuso could possibly get a break in there as well, but I don't think he will win a set.

Roddick will win 64 64 or something like that... one break for him in each set

btw, tennis will never be the winner in a match that includes Roddick ;)

Good to see someone get the point of that option, but tennis will be the winner.
