As both guys are chasing spots for Shanghai, winning Bangkok will be a huge boost for either of them.

Ivan is looking for his third title of the year (after Chennai and Zagreb), while James is looking for his fourth (after Indianapolis, Las Vegas, and Sydney)

For the record, Ivan leads the H2H 4-0

2006 World Team Championship
Dusseldorf, Germany Clay RR Ljubicic 5-7 6-3 7-6(4)

2005 ATP Masters Series Paris
France Carpet R32 Ljubicic 6-3 6-4

2003 Roland Garros
France Clay R64 Ljubicic 6-3 4-6 7-6(2) 6-4

2003 CRO v. USA WG 1st RD
Zagreb, Croatia Carpet RR Ljubicic 6-3 6-7(5) 6-4 6-3

Who will win in Bangkok?

I'd say Ivan...but I wouldn't give him more than 60% chance. It should be another good final tomorrow. :yeah:

I would imagine a 3 setter and im hoping James can pull it off! The key will be if he can get his return of serve to fire.

I think will win this one, if not in straights, than in 3. I had some questions about his fight after letting a lot of 7-5, 7-6 slip out of his hands this summer, but that dead rubber win over Safin gave him some confidence I guess, because in the past 2 matches, he's won the third sets with 7-5 and 7-6 scorelines.

I hope he wins! Good Luck James!

Ljubicic is serving out of his mind this week. Poppin' out killer bombs outta no where. James' return needs to be ON. Also, the h2h slightly favors Ivan, though they've never played on indoor hard before. It'll be another quality final that's for sure.

What the hell is dead rubber?

What the hell is dead rubber?

It's basically when one of the countries has an insurmountable lead, they've already gotten the three wins they need. They play all five matches no matter what, so the last one (or two) could be a "dead rubber," it doesn't mean anything.

In this case The Russians were up 3-1 after Roddick lost, so the Blake/Safin match didn't affect the outcome of the tie. Thus making it a dead rubber. :)

both players are very very up and down, depends on whoever turns up on the day..consistency is not part of their game (i.e. error prone!!)

:drive: :timebomb:

ROFL!!

Please James put an end to this clown and imposter #3 player in the world!:p

Seriously though, I see James winning this in straights, like 6-3, 7-6.
