Why doesn't Taylor play for the Aussies?

I mean, there are tons of US players and the Aussies are struggling in terms of Davis Cup and stuff, so why doesn't Taylor play for them?

Because Taylor has spoken about the fact that he has gotten a lot of support from the USTA and wouldn't feel right about not playing for the US. Quite honorable of him, I think. Plus, he's a US citizen and I don't know if he's even ever lived in Australia...

But considering Taylor missed most of this year and there's the possibility he'll never play again, he should worry more about getting healthy again than which country he plays under :)

Good for him. Mary Pierce could learn a few things...but, I thought he had dual citizenship? Anyway, let's just hope he does well!!

I honestly don't know. i mean it's sort of like saying James could play for England since his mom's British?

here's an old article from about 5 years ago http://taylordent.freeservers.com/articles/dec31_01.html

thanks :) well, since his dad has retained his Aussie citizenship, Taylor should have dual-citizenship (it depends on whether or not he wants it). Makes it a hell of a lot easier to travel. I think that if Taylor wants to play Davis Cup, he should play for the Aussies, but it's up to him. Lleyton has already said he'd love to have Taylor play, but I can see why Taylor would see it as betraying the USTA....well, thanks for your help.

Well he said in that article that he doesn't have dual citizenship, so I don't know. My pleasure :) I'm just hoping he'll be healthy for next season :awww:
