I want to see a young gun final. Either Fish vs. Roddick or Fish vs. kendrick. Personally, I want Kendrick in the final because you only get these chances once in a while and he needs to seize it.

Maybe he's improved DRASTICALLY since I saw him at the USO against Vinciguerra. DRASTICALLY. Or perhaps he was just really unimpressive that day, but is usually a little more notable. All I remember thinking about him is "nice serve and meh"

I've also voted that I'm male.

I don't watch Roddick in slams, unless it's a good matchup. I watched him against Gonzo and against Safin in Australia. The rest of the time I just don't watch slam coverage, or else I'll end up wanting to reach into my television and throttle the commentators, Brad, Roddick's opponeot (for losing), and even Roddick himself.

But if for some reason I was getting San Jose, I would watch so that I could see Pim Pim or whoever Roddick has played that I hadn't really seen much of before.

It should be said that Kendrick is a kind of player that could throw anybody's game off. Andy couldn't tell when Kendrick was going to come in behind his serve or stay back. He also has a monster of a serve that wins him many points. If he can learn to volley better, he surely can get in the mix of things.

Deb, it wasn't that horrible of a match actually lol. I watched it and it was ok. Andy missed some key opportuniteis to break open the match by missing some of his forehand passes that barely clips the net.

Other notes that haven't already been mentioned:

-Mandy was wearing a lime green shirt and looked sorta pissed when Andy missed a routine backhand up the line into the open court. lol

-Andy's returns looks a lot better and sharper.

-Robert hugged a linesman after losing a point lol

I think Andy will be #2 in the rankings come Monday. But then, he has to defend finals points in Memphis next week.

Boooo Jackson! Where were you when I was struggling to call the match here. You could have been a great help;-)

I'm home and I don't have a TV in this room, unfortunately.

I'll try to call out some other matches. :)

I thought he was only 30 some points behind JCF and he lost early here last year.

So it's Fish vs. Roddick.

If Fish doesn't play like he did last summer Roddick will cream him :(

According to the ATP site, Andy is only 10 points behind JCF.

Getting to the finals should do it. But I'm not a rankings maven.

Mardy knows how to play Andy. We'll see how it goes. I hope it is an exciting match.

Fish is a very interesting player. I like what I saw today. Andre...looks out of sort, disheartening to see.

thought Fish would defeat Agassi for sure. He hasn't been playing that well this week.

Didn't Andy completely whip Mardy right before the Oz Open? Or was that Dent...

Did any one hear Andre's pre-match answer when he was asked about what he thought of Fish?

"It's high in protein and I enjoy it".

He sure enjoyed it tonight. LOL.

Their last encounter I recall was at the Cincy Masters where Fish played him very tough and held match points before losing in the 3rd set.

nope star he's gotta win to move up to #2 b/c of the best other 5 tourneys he has.

Fish has to play his best, and so does Andy.

Problem for Fish is that he just played a tough 3-set match and is now playing a doubles match, it's almost 10pm local time and the Final is tomorrow at 1pm. There's no way Mardy will be 100%, since he's not the fittest guy on the tour to begin with.

Andy's serving around or over 70% for the entire tourney...if he does it again tomorrow and fixes the errors he made today, I don't really see him losing. that's IF.

You forget that doubles isn't too tiring because he only has to serve once in four games. He is actually using the doubles as a means to get extra match play and hone his vollies. This way he can continue his momentum into tomorrow. This is not best of five sets, so players don't really get exhausted easily in the smaller tournaments. I think Fish will have a very good chance at winning, especially if Roddick continues in his current form, which is winning, but he still is making too many unforced errors.

I don't forget that doubles isn't that tiring. It's still getting off your ass and going to play a match when your opponent is off getting a massage having dinner with his girlfriend.

Plus that match just ended, it's almost 11pm there, that means he only has 14 hours to turnaround.

That said, I'm sure Mardy will be fine. But to say he'll be 100% I also think would be an exaggeration. I don't see how Andy wouldn't be the fresher player. But of course that doesn't mean the fresher player will win.

I just hope it'll be a good clean exciting match and that the better player wins. :) I like them both so I can't lose either way!

Tomorrow's final should be plenty interesting. Fish really turned it on from the middle of today's second set on, just calmly hitting 28 aces and lots of backhand winners up the lines. Plus some awfully nice looking volleys off banging returns from Agassi. Credit for admitting he used to get negative, and talking about how he's trying to change that ... must be working!

Agassi, however, looked tired & grumpy as the match went on. He had something like 8 breakpoints the first two games Fish served, and could have made it a VERY different match if he'd capitalized. All credit to Fish though.

I got to see the Roddick match live today, and I was more impressed than I expected to be. Kendrick's pretty streaky, and I wouldn't have been surprised if Andy had just gone through the motions on some of the games he was receiving. Instead, he was really chasing down a lot of balls, hitting some nice looking 1-handed slice backhands when stretched wide to get out of trouble, and was bothered when he couldn't take advantage of some opportunities. Some very nice returning and passing in the 2nd set, too.

While I wouldn't have said I was much of a Roddick fan before the match (I'd rather watch 2 gauchos slug it out on clay than yet another ace, service winner, bla, bla, blah match), I thought Roddick was a true asset to the sport following the match: complimenting Kendrick immediately in the interview, making some funny quips when the commentator baited him about Valentine's Day and being the "elder statesman" of the US DC team, and signing a LOT of interviews for people who lined up on both sides of the court.

Hope Andre can get it back together for the spring and summer.

Mardy was playing wonderfully against Andre. Andy will have to pick it up if Mardy plays like that again. I'll be watching this match live in the audience. :)

It sounded, ALL WEEK, like it was just a matter of time before Andre would face someone playing well enough to beat him. It didn't sound like he was playing anywhere close to his best all week so I knew Mardy had a chance. I mean defnitely to Mardy's credit. 29 aces, that's amazing, and it sounds like he was hitting his backhand and stuff. But it does sound like Andre helped him here and there. 8 DFs sounds like a lot for Andre and it sounds like his serve was letting him down a lot.

Scotty, something you will learn about Andy if you keep watching him is that he never goes out there and just does the motions to beat someone, even if he's confident in himself against a particular person. The AO 4th round against Schalken comes to mind - Andy was up what was it 6-1 6-2 5-3 serving for the match and he missed a shot and got mad at himself. He's wildly competitive and very hard on himself out there.
