Yes, but I hate him and always cheer for his opponents. :p

I have never understood that concept. . I don't like Roddick but I would never root for his opponent if he was playing someone I didn't know or didn't like. *Luckily Andy is playing Christophe today so I don't have to worry about it ;) *

How can that be fun? And "hate" is a strong word for someone you probably don't know much about. I've met Nicolas a few times and although he seems extremely shy sometimes he's a very nice guy when you talk to him one on one.

:fiery: :banghead: Nicolas!!

He seemed to have it till that 5 ALL game in the second. I think the possibility of winning his first match of the year made him nervous  . Nicolas isn't exactly known for being mentally tough  . A new coach can only do so much.

At least his ranking won't fall much because he has no points to defend till IW.

Basically you are right, but Kiefer is a special case for me. :p

And believe me, I know more than enough about him. :tape:

nope tangy... just The Tennis Channel :o

looks like Taylor is having some trouble with Kendrick. he saved at least 3 bps on his last service game and went to at least a deuce or two on this one.

Taylor finally broken I see... gee didn't see that coming

Taylor should not be having trouble with this guy!

Robert is temperamental but he's a good player. I think one of the things that holds him back is the fact that he can be so moody. He seems to be doing much better so far this year than how he ended 2003.

I'm just curious. Why was it that you thought Robert shouldn't have been a problem? Because Taylor is a seed? Considering what Taylor's game is & what Robert's is...the only way he would've lost was to have had one of his temper tantrums.

On to the QFs now!! :bounce: It'll be a tough one whether it's Robby or Cyril. I like Robby too so if that's the QF  .

well honestly I don't know much about Kendrick, but on paper Taylor certainly should have won. It's not because taylor is a seed, but because he's a top 25 player, he's beaten really top players pretty recently, and it was Kendrick's first ATP-level match of the year. Taylor's obviously going through a slump but to his credit it sounds like Robert played great.

What IS wrong with Taylor this year? Less than impressive at Oz Open, and now here in NorCal.

Does he have a-l-m-o-s-t enough game, but not enough brains? I've wondered since that default vs. Agassi last year at the US Open.

Oh well, I'm going to the Saturday afternoon semis, and I hope it's a good competitive match, maybe Andy-Robby or Andre-Mardy? Andre will probably get the 7pm start.

Any other predictions for the final 4 in SJ?

Yikes! Mardy had a lot of trouble with Carlsen. I thought he would have a little because Carlsen used to be very good, but not this much. Oh well. I am very happy he won though. I am also happy for Kendrick, who happens to be an old friend of Ginepri.

Mardy didn't sound too happy with his play except for the final set TB.... he made way too many errors. I'm sure he'll clean it up :)

I'm very happy for Pim Pim!

Now he takes on Blake. I have hopes for him in that match too.

As for the dismay over Dent. He can lose anytime anywhere to anybody. Not only does he have head problems, he's got conditioning issues too. A net rusher has got to be supremely conditioned and have a rock solid mentality. I watched Stefan do it for years and years and sometimes I would get exhausted just thinking about the resolve it must take to go to the net again and again even when being passed often. Rafter too worked his patootie off to play his serve and volley game.

Deboogle!.
02-12-2004, 02:29 PM
yea star.... I don't think Dent can stay healthy for more than a couple months at a time, or so it seems!

Plus in this match yesterday, IIRC, he went to net 48 times but only won 22 of the points.

A lot of strong performing lower ranked players in this tournament. :)
