Moya is 32 in the race, whats the overall ranking now

if he does good in mumbai [hopefully Mario & Robredo will be far away from his draw], he can get back in 20s [in the race]

I can' t wait, what will happen???

he can still improve, he needs the LOST confidence BACK, against any player

You're right, but I doubt he can get it back. Maybe if he can break through in one tournament, like a masters series. He took a set off Nadal in Monte Carlo was it? Only if he had the consistensy to follow it through.

This is a very important ranking jump. His draw position will be so much better than he has been getting as an unseeded entry lately where he's hit some top 8 players in round 1. If he continues to play like he did this past week, he can easily go deep again. So GO Carlos!

maqk
05-22-2007, 12:55 PM
With the form he is in, if he continues like this then he can even defeat top 10 guys in 3rd round

just be CONFIDENT MOYA...

no i don't know if he plays some grass tournements before wimby, it would be good if he did, to get the feeling and rythme on grass matches. But in the past, he did play wimby as well without playing any tournements before.

Anyone notice Carlos is up 2 places in the ATP rankings? He is 20! This tournament could put him well in to the top 20. I can't find the point breakdown for the tournaments anyone know where to find them? He could very well be around 17 if he goes all the way!

The point break down is normally on the Tournament site, isn't it? If not, you can go to the Tournament Thread here at MTF. When a Tournament Thread is started the information about where it is, who is playing, surface, and points are there :)

# 20 is very difficult to reach, mostly when you think he was 47 by early Jan-2007.
He climbed 27 positions in six months. The next part of ladder is very tricky : fierce payers, much younguer and the clay court season ends July 30th.
I believe we should be happy with the fact that this objective is accomplished, now we have to back him so that he can still play well, with the least possible injuires so as to keep the level up.

rosiemoyagirl
07-18-2007, 08:49 PM
Actually his goal was to be in the top 15 I think... no? but 20 we will take. I have faith in him for the hard court u.s. tour. His game has really picked up. And yes the climb from here will be tough. There's lots of young guns out there in the top 15 but Carlos seems to be very focused. let's hope for the best.

Yeah atp says 1395, 18th place but the winner was to get 175 points Carlos was at 1295 therefore points should be 1470 points! I'm confused.

1295 = with the points he earned by winning the semifinal
now goes to 1395= winning the final(I think!!)

claudine140
07-30-2007, 02:17 PM
champion race 15 the place
if he can win some more tournements or win some matches in important tournements he can reach the eight position and play in the final master!!!! at the end of the season (lol)

claudine140
08-19-2007, 06:35 AM
moya will be onn the 17the place of entry list. He was on the 16the place but because he lost from Hewitt, Hewitt jumped over him.
Championrace will be even better, if i am correct he was on 16the place last week. So i think he will be closer to the top ten again

Moya could make the top 10 in the race if he has a good run in the open. As for the rankings he's still about 450 points away from top 10 that's a lot of points and I don't believe he can get there this year. But maybe the top 15 as was his original goal would be possible. Let's just cheer him on all the way!!!!!

claudine140

indeed champ race is possible, but entry list is difficult for top ten.

How many points does he have to defend after the open? I know he went out first round in Madrid last year, that's one place where he could shine and pick up some good points.

moya played last year 4 tournements after us open
madrid: R64 5 points

bucharest R32 4O points
not that much!!!!!
so everything is possible!!!!

Well, now that Ferrer has taken out Chela, if my calculations are correct Carlos will be only 1 pt away from the #8 spot in the race even if he loses tonight. If he beats Djokavic, he jumps to #7.

Here's the link for current race standings which have him at #13 pre US Open.
http://www.atptennis.com/3/en/rankings/championsrace/default.asp

As of this afternoon's result, the new numbers should look like this:

Positions 1-5 are out of reach and Gonzo drops from his spot at #6. The new rankings from 6 on are:
6 - Ferrer 381 pts (will increase if he wins in the semis)
7 - Blake 321 pts
8 - Haas 316 pts
9 - CARLOS MOYA 315 pts (will jump to 7th place with 355 pts if he wins tonight)

So Carlos will be in great position to challenge for a spot in Shanghai if he has a decent fall season.

So lets hope he repeats his Cincinnati result against Djokavic! A #7 race position would surely motivate him to keep up the great work.

Go Carlos! :bounce:

OK, so this week's rankings for guys fighting for the final 2 spots in Shanghai are:

7 Gonzalez, Fernando (CHI) 343
8 Haas, Tommy (GER) 328
9 Robredo, Tommy (ESP) 327
10 Blake, James (USA) 326
11 Gasquet, Richard (FRA) 320
12 Berdych, Tomas (CZE) 317
13 Moya, Carlos (ESP) 315
14 Ljubicic, Ivan (CRO) 314

Above and below that cluster there is a bigger gap so it seems like any of these 8 players theoretically have a good shot at making it if they do well in the 2 remaining masters events. Carlos basically has to do better than they do. So how does he stand up against these other guys?

claudine140
10-17-2007, 05:05 AM
i think moya has any chance at all to reach the masters, we must be realistic. Moya has a great year, he is in top 15, and that is very good for a man of his age!!!!
Maybe he can try to make his position better next year in the entry list!!! if he can defeat his points next year he can go to top ten in this list

maqk
10-17-2007, 06:41 AM
If he gets past Ferrero & Djoko Then then???

he still can do it, though its not likely to happen cause of 2 big Players ahead of him

Well I've talked about "Moya Magic" a lot lately, but I have done a poor job on this thread :o So I thought I would check in and say that as of 2/11/08 the ATP site said Carlos was ranked #18. I'm sure his recent results will move him up ;)

05-13-2008, 10:29 PM
Haha! He has climbed to #12 now. Awesome when you think of how badly he has played this year....lol...I suppose there was an advantage to playing badly at the beginning of last year too....:D

I think this was the point where he started to play well last year, so hopefully, he can pull the rabbit out of his hat this year, too, or the ranking slide will start after this tournament.

Ales_Alessandra

Aquarianbabe
05-14-2008, 12:25 AM
Carlos hasn't done that well and it is because other players around him haven't played that well also that his ranking has gone up. As Ales has said if he doesn't get to the semis at least his ranking will drop.

I think he can beat Rochus but in 3 tight sets. 3rd match on Court 2 today.
